The cheapest gen 2 used I can find is 55-60k and gen 1 30-35k thats at least 25-30k difference which I don’t think is worth the upgrade. I could wait it out longer and save up more for the gen 2 but rather have a gen 1 and more money towards a down payment on house. I’m sure the gen 1 is more than capable and the older tech wouldn’t bother me
Same. It was hard for me to justify the extra $15-20K for a Gen 2. I bought my Gen 1 with the plan that it would "hold me over" till the Gen 2's dropped a bit more and there was more of a used market(or I just started making more money to buy a new one:rotflmao:). I like it a lot though so my plan has pretty quickly gone out the window and I'm gonna hold on to this thing for quite a while

Are the svt raptors still a good buy? I’m in the market for a truck and having a hard time deciding between the newer Tacoma’s Colorado and Ford ranger coming out soon and curious how the svt raptor would compare to these newer trucks. If I could afford it I would definitely get a gen 2 but that’s not possible so I’m looking at a gen 1 since I always liked them when they first came out. Anyone on these forums get rid of there raptor for a mid size truck and regret it?

I'm curious Cristian, did you end up buying a 1st gen?

I have not....yet. I’m just waiting for the right one to pop up(white and fully loaded) I did manage to test drive one last month and I’m fully set on buying one soon. And people were right this truck is in a league of its own, the zr2 and trd are nice but for one not roomy enough, second not enough power.

Nice good luck in your search!

I know there were a few white Screw's for sale on here recently if that helps. And yeah these trucks are truly awesome, I'm all smiles every second I drive mine.

I’m not saying gen was a bad truck. I love gen 1. When it came out it was my dream truck. V8 sound nothing can beat that.
But still paying 45K for a used abused truck it’s a lot for me. I better wait and spend extra and get brand new. I don’t wana have a car that some dirt bag was using before me

‘Used abused’....there are a shit ton of Street King Gen. 1 Raptors out there, they’re not hard to spot. The ones that are beat to shit really stick out and have tell tale signs of abuse. My 2012 is going on 7 years old with 68,000 miles, people are amazed of the condition....Street King solid

Get a sport tune on 91-93 octane and the truck really wakes up.

I bought a 14 SE Screw RR with 51 k on it. Garage kept inside looked new never off road and I love it. Nothing like that 6.2 sound and I think the deal was good $40 k as I could not afford a gen 2 right now.

I'm new here, but gotta agree with the Gen 1 guys. It's a way better use of money than a Gen 2 with the V6. A Gen 1 can be hotrodded all the way up to 700+ horsepower if that's what it takes, but they're really good the way they are too. Around here, most all of the Raptors on the road have never been off-roaded, can't imagine it's much different where you are.

I shopped for mine for over a year and ended up with a gorgeous blue truck, 2012, with 26K miles on it in June 2016. Now it's up to 71K miles and retired from DD work. Going to become strictly a FUN TRUCK from now on!
