About 19,500 miles, No issues. Picked it up 1/31 with 53miles. It’s not my daily driver and I use it for what I bought it for. Plenty of cross country off road and highway miles loaded with gear. Some would say I beat it up, but that’s why I paid more for a Raptor and not a 4x4 pick-up. My gas mileage is 14 at best. I use sports mode and even tow mode routinely. I’m all about WOT at lights, on-ramps and passing. I put it into AWD to keep it from fish-tailing when taking off……Yes I have fun with it! I have had no issues with it at all except when I added a Boostmax. Took it off and all is fine. I only took it to dealer to disconnect the fake engine noise. My upgrades are an S&B intake (removed fins) and a catch-can.
BTW, I bought it MSRP with an extended warranty. So I’m not really worried about any issues that may turn up from a first year production vehicle. Gonna trade it 2019 or 2020 if something better is made, but I am very happy with it now.

My 17 had three "bigger" issues:

The first was the leaky oil pan. That was a two week wait for the replacement pan.

The second was a roller pin that came loose between the shift lever cable and transmission selector INSIDE the transmission pan. They had to open up the pan to fix it.

The most recent was a massive transmission fluid leak last Thursday while I was 600 miles from home. I came home- the truck is still in Texas.

Fortunately, I have a great relationship with my dealer and had ordered a loaded up 2018 Lead Foot Grey. I got home from Texas in a rental late Friday night, and picked it up Saturday morning. The dealer will go get my trade in 2017 in Texas when it is ready.

My hope is that the kinks that I experienced on my 2017 have been fixed for 2018. I do not drive the truck hard, and it had 10,235 miles when the transmission fluid blew a gasket last week. I bought it through my law firm as a tax deduction, and 90% of the miles are highway. The other 10% is hunting on my farm that is pretty well groomed.

Hope that helps in your decision. Despite my issues, I love my Raptor (and my old one).

I've always believed it's best to never buy a vehicle it's 1st year. That go's for any make and model. Could never have any problems but if they do they usually find out what they are and correct this come the following years. But it is hard to wait a second year for a raptor. I'm waiting on my 2018 now and everyday i find myself thinking if I just bought the 2017 sitting in the lot I would be happy with it right now.

Thanks for the reply, I had the same issue with my 13, transmission seal blew, took it in (2 months pass) they did nothing and told me they fixed it. A week of driving with no fluid I take it back in... (3 months pass) they cover it up tell me all is well and at 70k miles I end up spending 7k for a new transmission. And to beat it all leaving with my new transmission, they forgot the transfer case seal and I inadvertently shredded it on my way home and dropped ANOTHER 7k on a transfer case and I decided while it was there might as well have them fix the dying power steering. As little dealer interaction I could have the better my life will be.

I still wish Ford would step in and do right by me and at least deal with the fraud of a dealer.

I had two options and I went to the better of the two!

I will probably try to end up waiting around for the '18 and enjoy my '13 for a little longer. If I can't get good money out of it I might keep the '13 as an extra!

You and I drive very alike. I'm glad to see yours has held up so well and I hope it continues to! Good point on the extended warranty, I might look into it. How much does that run these days if you don't mind me asking?

I had a 2010 Gen1 5.4L Raptor and went through a number of the initial problems. They all were fixed under warranty by dealers and, for the most part, all of the repairs went well and fixed the problem the first time.

The only issue that was not fixed the first time was a known problem with the headliner mounted microphone. My Raptor's issues and others' issues helped Ford understand where their initial problems were and Ford did a great job of getting them addressed quickly through their dealerships.

I know of one 5.4L owner who snapped a rear axle (while the rear end was locked) on one of our Raptor Runs in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park / Ocotillo Wells. It was flatbedded back to civilization and Ford jumped on the issue to understand how it happened and what caused it.

Those were the early Raptor days way back in 2010!

Some people here @df4801 don't think they make any changes from 17 to 18. If the problem is there in the 17, it's still there in the 18. For me, it's hard to believe they would just sit there and do nothing knowing problems have been reported.

Business School 101: Deny everything all the time.

The go-to excuse for most failures is end user abuse.

If they get too many irrefutable failures, then they claim it was a bad batch and not a design flaw.

The problem with redesigning a part is it admits fault and opens the door to a fleet-wide recall, something manufactures try to avoid at all costs. It is much cheaper to fix a thousand leaky oil pans on an as needed basis than to admit fault and replace 25,000 oil pans.

Maha, how can you like what jaz says when it refutes your point?

The whole point was about late 2017 reliability vs early 2018 reliability. Of which there will be LITTLE TO NO difference. If you disagree, name ONE thing thats improved between March 2017 and July 2018. (not minor changes like the stereo or the tailgate)

Those who think that they are constantly changing the production lines or parts used within a model year clearly have never worked in the industry.

By your logic Maha, you should wait as long as you can as the Raptor will get more reliable each MONTH! Who knows? Maybe they make improvements daily!

Now if you want to compare a 2020 model to a 2017 thats a different story, especially after a mid-cycle refresh.
