Is the F150 Raptor R Worth $110K

The RAPTOR was the beginning of the madness, or was it the Ford Lightning, the original. OR the Chevy SS truck.

To me, no, but to someone I'm sure it's worth it. My 21' does everything I need it to do and other than having that V8 sound and a faster truck, not worth it. Ford kinda hosed it up in my opinion with the pricing. Had it been more comparable to the TRX in pricing, then they'd have a winner. But I understand they want to keep it limited production or more so than the regular Raptors at least.

I think you hit the nail on the head that, had the price been comparable, it would be a winner. Considering it'll be marginally better offroad and the same everywhere else than a TRX, 15k is a huge difference.

I think they priced it like this to keep it limited but also to make it less attractive to their Ecoboost market. By pricing it 20k+ over a normal Raptor, they are sending a message that this is what it a V8 future would look like. It's a great opportunity to flex what Ford is capable of but they have shown it's just to say they have a V8 version and nothing else.

@Donovan @shigman @JorgesRaptor it's a little like my HOST camper, Host, Lance and Arctic fox all sell every unit they make and waaaay over priced, can buy 3 20-24 foot trailers for the 60-70 k but I don't want a trailer, we need a camper to still tow the dune buggy. I know it's a ripoff but ain't nobody gonna throw any of my money on my casket ! Buy it, put a little ding in the paint so you put the first scratch then go beat the crap out of it. Reminds me of the svt lightning vs the srt10

lightning was around 37k, and the srt10 was around 52k, back in early 2000s that was a shit ton of money more, for something that performed worse than the lightning. Dont get me wrong i love the SRT10, but the price didnt really justify it. Now its a little different for the Raptor R since its arguably better than the TRX, but the cost (actual cost with adm) is just silly.

Really wish there couldve been some middle ground with a 7.3/6.8/5.0 raptor that had options, instead of being de facto high trim.

Not exactly disagreeing with you, but they priced it to maximize profits. People are paying $110k for the regular Raptor, so there is no reason for Ford to think people aren't going to buy the R at the same price. They have supply issues and CAFE standards to contend with that are going to limit availability, and they can always artificially lower supply or the price if they need to. Obviously, there are a could sell more with a lower price, but that doesn't necessarily increase profits for Ford...likely not in this case.

As far as "V8 future", I don't think that exactly applies since this is a supercharged V8, and Ford still says V8s in the other V8 trims....and not at some high premium cost. Only way that changes is if CAFE standards get worse, which is possible, or demand for V8 sharply increases, which is unlikely any time soon.

You have a strong point there regarding profit maximization. I don't really think people would be throwing as much of a fit about the $110k if they were selling anywhere near that. For the mass majority of R's being sold, there will be a 25k+ ADM on top.
