Is it normal to have power loss in heavy sand?

Just thought I'd chime in with my $0.02 here.
My 2010 and 2012 are the same when it comes to disabling (Mash that button for 10 seconds when in ORM) traction control.

If I change from 4H to 4L, exit ORM, engage posi, move the gearshift, (or, at times, it seems - even change the radio station) it will RE-ENABLE the traction control.

This feature is not a "set and forget" function like pulling the posi knob. The user must be concious that any change may affect the electronics and allow the damn nannies to kick back in.

One thing. If you lower your tire pressure below 30psi (low pressure light ON) you CAN NOT go into ORM and full unlock from nannies. It will only go into off road sport mode and the nannies will kick in quite a bit with the amount of wheel spin and sliding in sand. Plus, every time you switch back and forth between 2 and 4wd you have to stop and hold the traction control button again.

I was down to 15psi and didnt notice this problem... sideways at 60 on the rev limiter in ORM...didnt seem to do anything weird?

This is very interesting
I do change between 4x4 and 4x2 sometimes but I think I do the switch to 4x4 after the power loss in 4x2.

But I have been guilty of not deflating the tires due to the impressive capability of the Raptor making me go to places with 44psi that I could not do with 15psi with other cars. An off road expert in Australia wrote that traction control in all 4x4 fails drivers in dunes if a car tires are over inflated.

I have a 6.2l Ford Raptor 2011 and When I go off road on dunes and I really need to step on the gas, I sometimes get a power loss instead of power gain whenI have the traction control enabled.

That I understand. BUT the problem is that I also get a power loss in these circumstances with the traction control disabled and that worries me .....

When I go on a little heavy dunes I sometimes get power loss (reduction) when the going gets tough. This happens when in 2x4 with Diff Lock, off road mode and Traction Control disabled if the dunes a flat but heavy and fluffy.

I get the same power loss if on a long dune climb but in 4x4 with Diff Lock, offroad mode and Traction Controll disabled

So what is going on here?
Right after we bought our raptor last year we took it to the outer banks for a week. The first opportunity we had to pull off the road and drive on the beach my wife got excited and started hitting buttons ...in all the wrong order...the second I hit the deep sand the traction control kicked in and cut the power till i was almost at a complete standstill.

No matter what gear i put the truck in or how hard i mashed the pedal to the floor i could not get the truck to move faster than a crawl. Everybody near the beach entrance stopped to stare at the worlds most capable offroad truck limp its way off the beach...I was completely embarassed. Once Back in the parking lot I set everything back to default and went through the process from the beginning in proper order drove back onto the beach and everything worked perfect and I didnt have a problem the rest of the week, just that 1 incident where in my wifes excitement to play with the new toy she pushed the wrong button and re-enabled the traction control

Sorry for the long rambling post
