Imitation is the highest form of flattery. That said, I am a bit bugged.

Not as bugged as I am by my damn sunroof mechanism breaking. So, I read online that its a big problem. ****** materials and "you have to use it more" or "apply white lithium grease"! And, some say when the vehicle is out of warranty that the repair is stupid expensive. To me this is absolute BS on a truck or any vehicle that stickers for $70+ K! The online chatter says this happens with Raptors and F150's. The service write told me he has 7 trucks in now for the same and it will be next week before he can get me in; then 2-3 wait. Ford damn sure knows this is a problem and I suppose takes the position that it is too expensive to recall and or they generate revenue when the trucks are out of warranty. Regardless...I'm calling ********* on this one.

One of the ONLY concerns I had jumping ship from GMC to Ford Raptor aside from the ttV6 being alien to me I had already researched the pano roof issues on F150s & outta all the online complaints you find (cam phasers, oil consumption, leaky oil pans, transfer case issues etc) the one that really seemed to have some resonance behind it was the panoroof. Also seemed like there were less issues after 2015 model year.

Unfortunately if you want a screw raptor w/ any decent trim level/options 90% of em have the pano roof.

So- while I’m crossing my fingers in the drivetrain long term warranty/reliability dept I specifically got a 100k b2b extended warranty @ time of purchase to cover first & foremost that pano roof, then the electronic gadgets/infotainment, then the suspension/lighting/transfer case & lastly the tranny/engine which I actually feel like is the most sorted out “new” tech in the vehicle anyhow.

I will admit I do use it quite a bit & w/ 16k miles on the truck have thoroughly cleaned & lubed the tracks/weather stripping even bought krytox grease from dealer & when I was getting a lil squeaking when popping it open had the dealer check it out & they lubed on their own & it quieted right down.

Haven’t had any issues w/ it- but 10000% you should be popping/venting before fully opening & also give it a cleaning once in a while....there are all kinds of $70k vehicles I can think that while they may have nice well built sunroofs are severely lacking in quality/reliability/features/performance compared to the Raptor. Want 450hp/510tq, 4.10s, 10 speed, 35”s, dual mode transfer case, unique body panels, Fox shocks, upgraded A-arms etc etc - ya gotta compromise someplace.....and while it may seem trivial since they’ve been doing it for a while, also name another vehicle @ that price point that does all that while being able to haul 1200 lbs tow 8000 lbs & do it wrapped in an all AL body?!!?

$70k ain’t that much.

The sunroof is a nice feature, annoying if it breaks, but knowing ahead of time there are issues like you obviously now know, do what you can maintenance-wise to help prevent issues in the future.

I always think, “why is that Raptor so ugly and low to the ground?... and why did they add an air dam?.. head scratch... ohhh it’s a Fraptor!”

Then I over heard someone at a party explaining how his base F150 Fraptor was even better than a Raptor because he installed a lift kit.

The ignorance is a little annoying.

If a F-150 gets an offset that is more then 80” he/she would need the markers. Possible a few truck owners got pulled over for a plus 80” track, and opted of the grill to stay legal?? Not everyone but some I would assume. HD trucks (mostly dully) have the lights on the top of their trucks and on the back, as the Raptor has the side markers, 3 lights in the grill and in top brake light has 3 red lights to comply with DOT.
Production of the gen 2 is the problem. The first gen was out 4 years and still did not see very many. That’s uniqueness is what drew me to buy mine in 2013 how the 2020 is already on the lot....

My employee’s width is 82” this truck may be considered a poser... I spent 67k on my truck he spent 35k I put 10k in mods he put 18k I push 410 hp, as he is super changed and Dyno at 612hp. I’m running 35s on a 410 gear, he is running 37s on 463. It’s a pretty long list. I say that before you start casting judgement take your pavement Princess off-road with one of the legit posers and see how practical and built some of their rigs are. You will be surprised. And you might just make a friend with a gear head!

I usually give them a "jeep wave" especially the Yotas.
Guess it's different driving a Raptor, being so unique and all.

Other truck owners are so enamored with the Raptor, they would chose to emulate...

I saw one on an Escape last week in Vegas. It threw me for a loop, but it didn't look half-bad with all the other mods on it.

Still a poser. More to it than wheel size, Dyno numbers and looks. You can't fake the Raptor DNA/engineering/stance/how it all works seemlessly together to provide such a smooth off road experience. Posing as a Raptor is a form of compliment but suggesting you can mod a F150 to equal a Raptor is ignorant. Doesn't mean it's not cool to mod the F150 just means it'll never be a Raptor and posing as one by installing the front grille is cheesy. True gear heads don't try to emulate something else they make it their own thing and to that end I find it very cool.
