I recently purchased a new gear shift module for my '24 802a after having multiple gear shift module errors and the dealership near me is completely incompetent. I'm trying to avoid the dealership at all costs, so I found a video on YouTube on removing and replacing the gear shift module and it doesn't seem all that bad, I'm just worried that it'll need to be reprogrammed.

Wondering if FORScan will be able to address any issues, or will he BCM or TCM need to be reprogrammed at a dealership to accept the new gear shift module?

Ok, finally got around to replacing the shifter assembly yesterday and man, IT SUCKED.

Pulling off the plastic trim around the screen and the pewter/gunmetal looking plastic belt below the screen was on there really really good.

The plastic sides of the center console were fine, not that bad, but the metal edge the runs along the top, sliced my middle finger up pretty good. Felt the slice, and looked as blood was gushing out of my finger onto the floor mat.

The bad, I now have four GSM (gear shift module) error codes and a shifter fault of on the cluster that will not clear. Before doing all of the work, I backed up every single module from Forscan in anticipation of restoring the GSM module. After doing some research, the 2024 and newer trucks will need to have the GSM reprogrammed as the GSM isn't associated with the BCM or the ECM or the TCM; backing up those modules didn't fix the error codes. I am able to shift out of park and though the gears, so when I take the truck in on Wednesday to the dealership, I'll ask them to just reprogram it and put the blame on the other dealership that didn't initially address the malfunctioning shifter to begin with.

The good, well the shifter now folds and it feels better shifting into and out of park, and hopefully it will prevent a mechanic who doesn't car tearing into my truck.
