Not sure what you mean by "fee", but if you mean cost, then yes there will be a cost. The trip will include 7 nights of hotel rooms, many meals, park intrance fees, etc. I am still waiting for 2 of the hotels to get back with me with before I can finish pricing the trip. I was hoping to have it done today, but it looks like it may be next week now....

Raptor Extremes update 1/16/13

Because it is the "off-season" in some of the areas where we will be traveling, it makes it difficult to nail down some of the final details but in order to not keep everyone waiting I thought I would throw out as much information as I am comfortable with at the moment. Please understand that some of these details may change, but the overall schedule and major details should (hopefully) remain:

6/30/13 - Lowest place in the US
Lodging and dinner at Furnace Creek Resort - Death Valley California
First night dinner and meet and greet
Death Valley Lodging

7/1/13 Day 1
Lunch at Mt. Charleston Lodge (meal included)
Lodging at Red Rocks Resort in Vegas
dinner in Vegas
Mt. Charleston Lodge Home

7/2/13 Day 2
Lunch in/around Zion National Park
Dinner & lodging in Torrey, UT (meal included)

7/3/13 Day 3 - BIG day!
Multiple driving options to include Lake Powell Ferry crossing
Natural Bridges National Monument
Lickity Split Chocolate in Blanding, UT
Lunch in Blanding, UT
Dinner & lodging in Moab, UT
Utah Department of Transportation
Banner and buttons.jpg
Natural Bridges National Monument - Natural Bridges National Monument

7/4/13 Day 4 - INDEPENDANCE DAY!
Free day to explore Moab
Lunch on your own
Dinner & lodging in Glenwood Springs, CO

7/5/13 Day 5 - BIG day!
Mulitiple driving options to Leadville, CO
Lunch in Leadville, CO
Again more driving options including Mosquito Pass
Dinner & lodging in Frisco, CO
Just Google "Mosquito Pass" for more info - highest pass in US

7/6/13 Day 6 Highest road in the US
Mt. Evans, CO
Lunch in Idaho Springs, CO
Mount Evans - Highest Paved Road in North America

Optional extension: Dinner & lodging in Canon City, CO

7/7/13 Day 7 - More EXTREMES - Royal Gorge Bridge park
We will drive over the highest suspension bridge in the world, ride the arial tram, the incline railway and the carousel. Option to ride the worlds highest zip line or the royal rush skycoaster (additional cost). Also available is white water rafting, Royal Gorge scenic train ride and many other cool things!

I am trying to make this as all inclusive as possible to take advantave of group discounts. We will be staying in nice but not luxury hotels. Most hotels will have a free breakfast of some kind while others offer buffets. I have done extensive research to try and find good resturants and hotels while trying to stay within a reasonable budget. We will stop at many local micropubs/grills, but I made sure they were "family friendly".

This is going to be an amazing trip! Extensive research was used to link great stops and destinations with some of the absolute best driving roads west of the rockies.

Please stay tuned for more details and if you are on Facebook, be sure to like the Raptor Extremes FB page - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Raptor-Extremes-by-SMC-Events/407547699301091

AS it stands right now, we will start off in Death Valley, CA on 6/30 or 7/1 and end up just outside Denver around 7/6. I am really trying to get all the details nailed down for this ASAP. Trying to make it as all inclusive as possible so that your not nickeled and dimed to death and to get group discounts everywhere.

Sounds like a road trip.

How much off roading are you planning on doing?

Yes, this IS a road trip. I specifically picked the absolute best driving roads west of the Rockies for this trip. Just because its a truck doesn't mean you can't enjoy driving it on paved roads. Lots of people either forget or simply overlook what a great ON-ROAD vehicle the Raptor is. Other than fuel economy I would rather take a long road trip in the Raptor than in almost any other car. Smooth, comfortable, quiet, powerful and gets way more looks than my Mustangs.

You will have almost a full day in Moab on 7/4 plus two high altitude passes on 7/5. There will be good opportunity to get some air. I would have put in a bit more off-road time if I could have but the only way to have done that was to increase the length of the trip which I felt was long enough already. In order to get from the lowest road in America to the highest I had to balance as much as I could.

Think of this trip less of an off-road excursion and more of a 6 day (family friendly) party and scenic trip with 20 or 30 new people. We are all staying at the same hotels and following the same route, all eating together. By the end of this trip you will have made some great new friends and have a phone filled with new numbers. The social aspect of the event is what can not be found anywhere else with any other Raptor event.

Had to plan it over the 4th didn't you? Geeze. (Yea I know..the whole week off of work is mitigated by the holiday) Could have had a party at my house in Coloardo and really pissed off the uppity HOA. It is only 10 minutes from Glenwood Springs. Btw: Doc Holiday is buried in Glenwood Springs.

a Party at your house was ALWAYS part of the plan. Especially if you will not be there!

Sounds like fun! Any updates on the cost to sign up? Ballpark? :GetMoney:

When will people take off back to CA? Looks like its a 16hr drive back to LA, so If I left Tuesday morning I could be back late late Tuesday night for work on Wednesday. Hightail it back home, maybe come in late that Wednesday to work if I have to drive back partially Wednesday early morning. Thoughts?
