I feel like an idiot for custom ordering a Raptor

I'm going to own this truck for at least 5 years, hopefully I can hang onto it and not get bored and keep it for 10 years.

For all this money, and all the time I'll be owning it, holding out on a wait sucks, but worth it in the end IMO because for 1 I have to do ZERO haggling with a dealership, 2. I have to put in no more effort than telling Randy here's what I want, no hours wasted searching up, to haggle, bargain, and fight off trying to get screwed. And 3. I don't have to make ANY compromises, I'm getting exactly what I want, with no less, nothing missing that I really wanted, and no more, nothing extra that I didn't want to pay extra for.

So unless there's a 2012 ordered EXACTLY as I ordered mine, for the EXACT price or less, and LOCAL or no cost for transport, then I'll just have to wait. A few extra weeks in the grand scheme is nothing compared to years of ownership.

Wow, +1 again. Get outta my head. Are we twins seperated at birth (do you have a big nose, if so.....hi bro). The main reason I am staying the course now is twofold. I keep vehicles for a long time. I STILL love my 98 Durango and will keep this thing forever too. I went with the dealer that I did (even though I am only 300 miles from Randy) because this dealer is a close and personal friend. The dealer has done what they can, it's just a waiting game now, love the avitar.

And see.....I got my VIN# today. I'll have my truck in about 6 weeks.

At least now my official wait can start. That's all I've been waiting for since august, is my official wait to start lol. Because that wait was all gray. No idea when the VIN# would come. At least this wait I know about a week before the 19th my sticker should show up, and a couple weeks after that I'll be in my truck.

Time has flown by since August when I ordered 4 months ago, so to wait another 1.5 months till it arrives is a drop in the bucket compared to years of ownership. And during those years of ownership I'll have zero regrets of "i should have waited and got exactly what I ordered".

It's not a matter of being "disappointed" because you bought a truck from the lot. Mine had everything I wanted & only one thing I didn't want (grandpa tailgate), but I am not disappointed at all. In fact, I had opportunity to drive the very truck I wanted BEFORE paying a dime.
People have bought cars off the lot for generations & been happy.
Does it have the tires, exhaust, bumper or lights that you want from the factory? Then, if that's not the case, you will be "disappointed". JMHO

If I got a fully loaded, or a bare bones, or a commonly equipped configuration, then yes I may be able to find one on the lot. But for getting all the exact options I wanted, the odds of finding it are slim to none, especially since they haven't been in production for 8 months where the lots are loaded. I ordered a blue screw with all options except moon roof and bedgraphics. I'm not taking any other color, I'm not taking any less options, and I'm not paying $1k for a moon roof and I'm not paying $1.5k for bed stickers.

So yes, buying one off the lot would leave me disappointed that it wasn't equipped exactly as I wanted because I'm not sacraficing anything if I'm spending $50k on the truck. And I'm also not paying for extra stuff I do not want, and that I do not like.

That's why I shopped around.
Very few of the Raptors don't come "loaded".
I had my pick of 3.....Just saying.
Dealer has you locked up.
To each his own & enjoy your truck when ya get it!

And mine isn't loaded. It's loaded with everything except moonroof and bed graphics. The odds of finding one exactly like that are slim to none when the trucks have just started hitting the lots. I'm not paying $1k for a moon roof, and I don't want one even if it were free. And I'm not paying $1.5k for bed stickers, and even if they were free I'd make them take them off anyway.

Dealer has you locked up.

His dealer does not in anyway have him "locked up".
His dealer is a FRF member and friend.
Randy (Reptar, mine and about 20 other FRF member's dealer) is not a "typical dealer".
The MOST accomodating, understanding, bend over backwards for his customers/friends.
