Exactly! ^^^ longevity of brake rotors and pads has a LOT to do with the driver habits. The advantage of upgrading to something better is in those high speed offroad and emergency stopping situations on road. The brake fade that is seen when stock parts get hot is the number one improvement. The upgraded parts will all but eliminate brake fade. But, the upgraded parts will also decrease stopping distances and improve the longevity of the parts.

For example, somebody who's driving habits allows the stock rotors and pads to last 40K miles, would probably see the upgraded parts last for YEARS. I mean, I installed the same exact package I recommend for the Raptors on my 2003 3/4 ton Duramax pickup in January of 2009, I used that truck for hauling extremely large loads of farm goods. Before installing the R1 products I was replacing the stock rotors and pads every single year. But, that truck is sitting in the driveway and STILL has that same brake package on it with no cracking or warping of the rotors and with at LEAST 50% of the pad still there. If I can get five years and about 30K miles out of the brakes on that truck, with the way I have used it, I am 100% confident that the R1 premium package will be all that my Raptor customers could want.

What is the bedding procedure, again? I lost the slip and wanted to make sure I did it right.

Get up to 35mph and HARD brake down to about 15mph without stopping completely. Then get up to 45mph and do the same. Then up to 55, 65 and if you want, 75mph and hard brake down to 15mph WITHOUT stopping completely. Stopping completely can cause a "heat spot" in the rotors. Once you have completed those steps, drive it easy for a few miles back to wherever you can park it to allow the brakes to cool. Then allow them to sit long enough for the brakes to cool completely. Once that is done, you are golden. once thing to keep in mind when you are doing this, you WILL smell them getting hot, don't be concerned with that. They have to cycle that heat to properly bed to the rotors. This is not a break in procedure, this is simply a procedure to make sure they are properly bed to the rotors.

My personal best...new pads and rotors to metal on metal...375 mi, give or take a few. Rears seem to go first but the fronts crack and chunk out too, so results have varied. 700mi is more typical. Which is why they invented big pelican cases to carry spares! Lol.

Did I say I am hard on brakes? lol

23K just had to do new rotors. Passenger side stuck apparently and the rotor was shot when I found it. Two new rotors and pads cost about $360 or so. Found the problem July 4th so no time to wait for upgrades. Just picked up new at dealership on the 5th and moved on.

I've got over 40,000 on mine and I just checked and they look like I can easily go another 40k miles on them. Which sounds about right for our driving habits. Got 88k out of the brakes on my wife's SUV. Funny story about brakes. A buddies wife only got 12k out of her new front brake shoes and later that week I was behind her Expedition and noticed her brake lights were always coming on even while accelerating from the light. So I told him what I saw, well it turns out she was a two footer. She nearly got 32k out of the next set by not keeping her left foot on the brake after that.

I'm doing the R1 package from Chris. I'm at 32K miles and brakes look good, so I'll try to get to 40K before I pull the trigger.
