Outlaw Raptor has another run setup for the 23rd of July, same frame bending route. In the text it states :

"Day 2 will be flat out with speeds reaching 110mph+ with a ton of g-outs and kickers. This will be meant for those who want to challenge themselves to what is simular to off road race conditions"

These guys are going to get someone killed!

Here's the link.

Yes sir,

I suspect we're going to see some more bent frames when it's over.

Anyone who is considering that should remember these two pearls of wisdom that have been stated one way or another in this thread:

-My truck is not a trophy truck

- A roll cage would be a VERY good idea.

If you want some good safety guidelines for what you should be running in a race like this, look at some of the pre-runner class rules for safety equipment in organizations like SCORE. Guaranteed to play at speeds like that they're going to require a cage, harness and helmet minimum.

I don't want to see anyone get hurt running their truck. If running these is something you want to do, put off some other mods and get some kind of cage done on your truck. It's cheap insurance when you're hauling ass in the desert and (God forbid) lose the truck and have a roll-over.

I don't even do this kind of running and I'm already debating one. I will be talking to my dealer to see if a cage would be an issue for them with the warranty, which it shouldn't be.

Stay safe out there guys, I never want to hear about a fellow Raptor owner pushing their truck to far and getting hurt.

Ok I just looked this up and here's the rules according to MORE for their races:

Safety Equipment
The standard Off Road Racing safety rules apply to all trucks. The race promoter has the final say on ALL safety related issues.
DOT/ SNELL approved Helmet
SFI approved fire suit
Fuel cell
Window nets
Fire suppression
Seat belts & restraints
Secondary door latches
Roll cage
First aid kit.

Obviously you don't really need a fire suit or window nets, but this is a good list to look at to get an idea of where you should be at safety wise to run races in a truck.

It doesn't help that General Grabbers are only rated for what, 104mph? Those 110+MPH runs are definitely pushing it!

Pretty sure they are running the non DOT 37" compition tires. Not sure what the rating is but it might be higher than the DOT compound.

As for the future Outlaw runs I think they are requiring an off road GPS that they can upload the course to and radios so that they have better communication. That along with the first day of driving skills course might cut down on the DNF's.

That's good news! Lessons learned the hard way.
