I propose this design was intentional...
Stress point or broke axel and stranded. If this were to become a military vehicle would you rather have a tweak to the box or a broke axel if you were under fire or in a support or rescue mode.

Think you're correct. SVT used spring blocks with shelves stronger than those on an F250. They only had the light duty F150 frame to work with and decided frame and bed tweaks were better than a middle-of-nowhere broken axle.

What SVT, probably, missed was the modular frame failure at the rear/middle connections.

So, where are the pics of your husbands' Raptor?

Really Debate? What is it you have a problem with? Are you really 51?

You know the material specs of the frame? The heat treatment, grain structure, geometry? What are you trying to do?

Anyway, I have attached your new Avatar.

Watch around the 1:50 mark....

After watching some of the video's out there about this particular run, I don't think its a stretch to say perhaps to pace might have been a tad to fast, for a bit too long.

I cant blame Ford for shit like this.

This Endo and this Double Down is NOT what we are talking about... gimme a break. Did you even listen to the audio?

I'm FULLLY aware of what we are talking about, and the videos are there to show the kind of terrain that was in play, and the speeds that were reached.

The first video is good because it shows how fast stuf comes up in the desert and the kind of stresses it puts on a truck.

The second is just too dam funny not to post up.

Didn't listen to the audio because my speakers suck on my computer.

But then again the more I think about it, I would be pissed off to if I paid $500 on a road that I could've driven for free and broke my shit...

For those of us a little more (no offense) sane, this is what the bad stuff looked like.

After the first jump you can hear my ABS/Traction Control/Hill Desent/Off-Road all shut off. A rock took out the harness to the left rear ABS sensor. The kicker is the actual one that did the damage to my truck. I think it probably got a few others too.

That was great. Didn't seem like you were driving over your head or anything. I never saw that kicker coming!

Me neither. All the other ones I had enough time to drop down to 20-30mph or less. I barely grabbed the brakes before that one.

After watching these videos, I'm surprised you guys didn't end up with more damage than you did. That was an extremely hard hit at the kicker. I would think that the frame damage is what you can see, at first glance. To me the impact was hard enough, I would not be driving the truck until the entire rear section had been properly disassemble and inspected by a professional. Your playing with fire, axles, axle housing, spring hangers, bearings, aluminum wheels and so on, could have unseen cracks that could result in catastrophic failure, and death!.

The cattle crossing looks as if it bottomed out the truck hard, which I think the truck probably handled it without any structural damage. But as seen in the video and you could clearly here the alarms going, why didn’t they stop to check for damage?

Please understand, it is not my intent to insult or point fingers at anyone. I’m trying to understand the facts, and the root cause. The facts will hopefully allow myself and other avoid this type of situation. I feel bad for the guys that have the frame damage. All these guys went to this run, in the anticipation of having fun, doing thing most people don’t get a chance to do, they didn’t go there with the thought of being irresponsible and damaging their trucks, they where just having fun.

They may have gotten a little out of control, but that’s human nature, to push the limits, get that adrenaline flowing, it’s the perfect legal high. They also felt the events organizers had their backs, covered all the bases and had it squared away! I guess in a way I am pointing fingers, it’s hard not too. I’m really bent out of shape, over this whole thing. This creates a situation for all of us, that own Raptors. I feel for the guys with the damage and pissed-off at the organizers for not having their act together. This could all have been avoided with proper planning.

1. Poorly planned and executed on the part of the event organizers. I keep seeing the statement “Lessons Learned” at the expense of 10, $40,000.00 trucks, Unacceptable!
2. I have to side with Ford, this does not have anything to do with the trucks design; it was terrain related and event planning error.
3. I would have a very deep discussion with the person who preran the route, and didn't mark these areas. Their route prerun is Unacceptable!
