Wow, it will probably perform and get better mpg with higher octane? If the computer can detect it or maybe it's just tuned for 87 only?

I would imagine, similar to previous years, manual/advertisements will list horsepower figures using 91-94 octane fuel. See current Mustang, previous Raptor.

But whats the "recommended" octane?

From the 2017 F150 owners manual. 87 is the minimum.

"For best overall vehicle and engine performance, premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The performance gained by using premium fuel is most noticeable in hot weather as well as other conditions, for example when towing a trailer."
