I don't really trust camera phone pictures, but, I'm actually surprised at how much glare there is from those spot beams! I'm sure they'll throw light down the road like crazy, but that's just as much glare as the euro beam.

Of course it could be that I'm used to my black hood, and like you said, you still need to adjust yours a bit. Take more pics once that happens. Other than that, the spots look good, decent distance...which model did you get?

Ducati brought up a great idea for hood mounted hid lights. He suggested rotating the lights 180 degrees so the cut off lines would be on the bottom instead of the top. This way you wouldn't have as much glare off the hood... When my 4" feugos arrive I will try it and let you know.

There is no way to flip the Vision X HID lights, so that won't help in this situation. Good idea though!

Final product: amazing! Entire process: harder and more swearing than originally anticipated... The Outlaw Raptor hood mounts are serious pieces of hardware! But even using the tips and tricks here in this thread, this was still a much more intricate and extensive install than I had planned for. However the final outcome with the Dually D2 driving lights is incredible! I love the compact look of the light and the amount of light they throw is insane for how small they are! Minimal reflection off of the hood but I did angle them out somewhat to give a slightly wider pattern of light.

The first pic is with just the D2s on and the second is my headlights (upgraded to PIAA Xtreme White headlight bulbs) and the D2s. First photo taken outside of the truck and the second photo taken from drivers seat.

Hopefully soon I can get slightly outside of town to take some photos with my nice camera and away from all the city lights.

Wow, really nice! The blue hood really keeps down the reflection. How do the D2's look on the truck? I like the white headlights too - mine are too yellow looking.

I always hate bringing back old threads, but I just wanted to say thanks to all you guys that take the time to participate and post up pics and descriptions of your work. I probably wouldn't have tackled this if it were not for you guys and your effort. But since you did, I have my lights and mounts on order, and I've already raided the local hardware store for my rods and nuts.

Thanks again, and if I can ever figure out how to post pics, I will.

Right on Todd!

And never any worries about reviving old threads. Just 'cause the information is old doesn't mean its unhelpful or irrelevant somehow.

PS: In terms of posting pics, there's a Photobucket tutorial I wrote up a while back but its gone missing. I'll see about redoing it and link it up.

Thanks dude. I can't wait to get these installed. I was in Northern Wisconsin Musky fishing last weekend. My Rigid white spots were awesome for lighting up the dark winding roads up there, and making the deer more visible. I can't wait for the HIDX 4" lights. My plan is to tan anything that walks in front of the truck!

Hah nice! Yeah those 4"HIDs are gonna rock up there for sure.

Regarding Photobucket. See if this gets you close enough; its 4 years old and Photobucket's interface has changed somewhat, but its still pretty applicable: How to use Photobucket - Step by Step

If not I can redo what I did before. I'll just need some time though.

Thanks BigJ. Here's my first attempt. Totally off topic, so sorry OP.

Hood mounts and HIDX 4" lights will be here Monday. I already have the hardware from the local Ace. Can't wait to wire them up!

Thanks again everyone!
