High voltage? System shut down while driving

Hello all, I've got a bit of a problem I experienced on my way to work this morning on my '19 SCREW. A few minutes after I left my house my music cut off and on the infotainment screen a message read "system shut down to save power... Turn on ignition or shut off engine," or something to that effect. This happened four times to over the course of the hour drive (intermittently). Came back on, shut back down. Next, after reaching the highway, I tried setting the cruise control and after a minute or so it would "ding" and shut the cruise control off. Tried this twice. Then the truck was doing was twice a message popped up on the dash saying the front camera was unavailable. Lastly I noticed out of the corner of my eye that the lights for the lock/unlock on the passenger side were going out intermittently as well. I checked the volt reading on the dash and it was fluctuating between 15v, 15.5v and 16v. Anybody have any such experience? Seeing as it's Sunday I won't be able to get a hold of the dealership, but so far that's my plan for tomorrow. Just looking for any input on the matter.

I would definitely take it in and see if theres a code stored or not. Maybe just a one off. Could be a loose connection. Good luck.

Yes, on my old Ducati 1198s. It was the voltage regulator, and it fried the battery good. The good news was that despite seeing as high as 17+ v on the display, lights flickering, etc, there appeared to be no permanent harm from it.

Ducati have a stupidly placed v/r right next to the front exhaust header with something like 3” clearance.

Given the intermittent nature of function, you should definitely NOT drive the vehicle in this condition. You were fortunate you were only losing non critical functions. This Gen Raptor is all about weight savings, right down to the wiring.
Don’t drive it, get it towed in so you don’t have some spectacular failure on the way to the stealership.

Damn, that's unfortunate. Hopefully there isn't any permanent damage, seeing as I drove it for almost an hour before stopping. Guess I'll just to leave it at the plant for the night and come back tomorrow to be safe. Thanks for the heads-up man, I know I'd be kicking myself if anything else went wrong.

yeah, not just that, so much is controlled by computers on the truck that you could lose a critical system while driving. I didn’t know immediately my Duck was losing the VR. I stopped for an errand and when I made a turn my signal didn’t turn on and when I stopped, I noticed the dash cluster was not lit but it didn’t register. Of course, when I started up, everything was back to fine... until I drove for a while but again I didn’t notice because on the bike it’s not as obvious.

Then, a few miles later I spied my signals not working and this time I noticed the dash flickering. I pulled off and cycled the dash to volts and saw something way up there like high 15’s low 16’s and that’s when I knew. I was able to make for the dealer and they knew immediately. Their Duck guy had a huge bin full of toasted regulators. He had some “marginal” ones and offered to swap it until they could procure a new one, I took it and headed home.

I knew this was not helpful to long battery life so I ordered a new one. Next start was weak, so I swapped the battery. That was a mistake because the donor v/r wasn’t much better. It started out ok but then scrammed to just as high voltage.
I rode maybe... 30 minutes? My super light Shorai battery did not like it one bit and was done for. I’ve lost one on a previous car and not had this kind of drama.

Better safe than sorry. I have to say though, I don’t recall anyone here posting similar circumstances on the Rap. Hopefully, it’s a quick fix.

Hot damn! That's crazy. Definitely considering myself lucky then! I'm hoping it's a quick fix as well, but now I'm beginning to wonder if it isn't related to the stock battery that randomly died on me back in March after four months of ownership...

One other question though, would it be safe enough to drive it onto a flat bed and at least have it towed home? I might be able to have my dad bring his Super Duty and his flat bed at the expense of a steak dinner and at least bring it home, then have it towed from home to the dealership tomorrow. Or, and I'm assuming this would be the better option, should I simply not touch it? I only ask since the dealership in which I bought it from and intend to take it to is even further away from where I work. Just looking to save myself a long trip, if I can.

I thought these trucks would throw a cel for the charging system if that was at fault? Did you get one? Regadless, drive it up on a flatbed, it's not on fire is it?

No faults popped up. Only got what I stated above. The volt reading is what has me most concerned. I'd hate for anything catastrophic to happen like Smurf said, although it looks like I'll be leaving it overnight.

Well, better safe than sorry, especially when you have options. Let us know what they find, maybe just a loose battery connection, lol. One could hope, anyway.
