Yeah I gotta say that's not to bad at all. But personally, I'd still go projector lol.

I recently had a truck at my shop & We were comparing HID conversions.
He complained of people "flashing" him all the time.
As I got to looking at his lights, I realized he had removed his stock deflectors, since some "expert" had told him he had to.
This, along with misadjusted aim are the main culprits of most of people's complaints.
A light source is a light source. It does not magically change direction, hence switching halogen to HID simply changes the light intensity.
My BMW has a HID light, with no projector lens & you can draw a line with the cut off. It is simply the shape & position of the deflector.
My Raptor has no issues with light scattering & retains a Hi/Low beam capability.

Same here brother! The only change I experenced is improved visability and better light quality. :peace:

Ok, lol, so 2 cars did it 10 years ago and thats a dealer option, didnt come from the factory like that.

Show me a recent vehicle that has HID bulbs in halogen reflectors. You cant because they dont exist.

You might as well just put a huge wing on the back and get it over with...

Heres a 2008 Volvo S60R headlight. It uses a D2R reflector housing HID bulb. I owned a 2006 S60R and the cutoff was outstanding. Better than most projectors I've seen. Volvo/Hella doesn't mess around with lights. All that being said most stock reflector halogen headlights aren't designed for HIDs. The Raptor's cutoff is very acceptable with HIDs. This is mostly due to the light shield in front of the bulb and the lack of diffusion gratings in the headlight lens.

HVee,
I'd be interested to see what kind of temps your getting with your 55w setup. Supposedly they make A LOT more heat than the 35w.

That must be why they switched to projectors in the model refresh... :mwah1: Sorry, couldn't resist. And I'm curious what OEM projectors you have been looking at that have a worse cut off than a reflector...

I don't have a heat gun, but I can tell you this... The light housings are only slightly warm when run for about 20-35 minutes. I don't think it will ever get too hot. Those lenses are so big, I feel that the surface area dissipate heats very well. It is winter time though...

Well I got the H13 Hi/Lo from DDM tuning for mine. DDM finally stepped up and replaced the wrong bulbs they sent so I guess I can recommend them. They do lifetime warranty their stuff. You could try the MaxCar that BigBlue recommended. Just make sure the part # you get will fit the H13 Headlight. DDMs kit runs about $65 with the H13 Hi/Lo bulb and Relay Harness. Maxcars is ~$120
