This was on TRS forum pics, to give you a idea what it would look like - since the headlights are apart I can totally paint the reflector, the shroud, the bezel any color and also tint the amber reflector

photo202.jpg

I think a ccfl would give it nice touch around the projector but what would you attach it to? Would you have to fab a mount for it? Haven't seen how sic mounts theirs.

A little bit better pic.

Here is a little bit better one of the Orbit . I have 3M clear over the headlights and it makes it harder to take pics. I am going to be removeing it after this winter . So if you noticed swirls and outher BS that is in the 3M film . You will also might notice I tried matching the tux black and think I got pretty close considring I used off the shelf rattle cans.

curious on the installation process for building these yourself. Not that I have plans to do my own, but I'm an engineer so always interested in how things are made. How are you guys installing them to ensure they're pointed straight ahead? I'm assuming you're drilling a hole out where the factory bulb used to be, big enough to slip the projector in from the front side, but is it relatively easy to ensure they're pointing dead on ahead? I know you can get adjustment on the housing to pinpoint the beam of the finished product in the entire assembly, but aside from that, how do you accomplish the alignment of the projector within the housing itself?

Nice work, looks great !

When retros are done right it looks like they were just thrown in there and it was super easy. Its actually the exact opposite, to get them to have a "factory" look it takes so much more time involved in the fabrication to get that clean look.

Reptar, the projector I use has a threaded lock not that fits into the opening for the h13 bulb, there is a bit of dremeling required to get them to fit in far enough so it works right. The opening that is already there for the stock bulb is basically what aligns the projector, so the projectors points where the bulbs used to point.

With a projector like the FX-R you would have to cut out a large opening and epoxy the headlight in there, which requires a LOT more work.

Hope that answers your question.

ah okay that makes a lot of sense. can you post a pic of the backside of the projector where it goes into that mounting? I took apart the projectors on my stealth once just to clean the glass and lenses, but they were factory projectors. Never seen the retrofits up close to see how they actually looked in person.

How does the wiring for your kits work? Aside from the extra LEDs, for the light themselves, do we need to modify the factory wiring harness at all, or do you have a plug & play adaptor?

Hoping I get a decent chunk back from taxes and can sneak this mod in lol. I'd probably do the core charge, have you send me your spare lights, then send you my OEM originals with no miles on them and ventureshield film on the lenses (getting clear-bra'ed the weekend I get the truck), then ship your spare lights back. Wouldn't mind the little extra wait or shipping, but that way I'd get my brand spanking new lights still in my truck with ventureshielded lenses.
