yeah... noo.... i refuse to drive a gay little fuel efficient car. I have had enough people in downtown toronto yell at me along the lines of "Hey buddy why dont you get a prius. HELL NO.
I put alot of km on my truck. i go up north once a week fishing hunting/cottage, rough trip from toronto to cottage is around 700km, without using it up there.
I have no idea how some guys on this forum fill up full and get 400 MILES. Best ive seen on mine 420 KM!!!!

Raptorwifey... You're awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do what you want, but at 15, excuse me, you're gonna be 16 soon, you're gonna be driving a $50K truck while in the 10th or 11th grade. What are you and your parents gonna do when your 18? 20? At this rate, you'll be asking for a Ferrari by your mid 20's. Good luck. Just remember to use your signals when switching lanes.

I say dont worry... Spend you mom and dads money and have fun. If they want to give it and you feel the need to take it then go for it...

Just FYI, Check out bank of America you can apply online, When they call you to tell you your approved and give you your rate, tell them you can get a better rate at your local credit union. When I said that they reduced the rate a little more. Hope this helps. I was glad to get an 89 4cyl dodge caravan with 120000 miles on it when I was 16 consider yourself lucky!
I hope you are checking out raptors forsale here on the forum!

IMO a Raptor is a horrible 'First Car'. You haven't been driving very long, if at all, so u aren't going to know ur limits and capabilities behind the wheel. Every driver finds what their capabilities are through either experience, close calls or accidents. I would not want to be driving a 45k dollar vehicle while trying to figure out if I am a good driver or not. Back in highschool I had plenty of friends that totaled their cars (I'm sure u'll know many people that do as well), u dont wanna take the chance of being one of those people with that kind of truck. My advice is to spend ~$2,000 and buy an older F-150 or something similar and once you rack up some experience behind the wheel in a year or 2 look into getting a Raptor if you are still dead set on getting one

Coming from someone somewhat your age... Wait a couple years.

Get a ****** car or shittier car when you are young as you have NO idea of how to drive yet. If I got a Raptor at 16... The truck probably wouldnt be here now.

Oh good lord... you're going to hate me for this Jonathan, but I AM going to get on you for your age.. You're about to be 16, I can't even reconcile the stupid shit I wanted, or dreams I had at 16. How long is this infatuation with a Raptor really going to last for you? 6 months, 1 year, then are you going to beg your mommy and daddy for a camero? hell, go big, how about a lambo?? And of course your "hard earned" Raptor is going to be useless because you beat the hell out of it, like any good 16 year old would.

Are you going to go to college Jonathan?... I suppose you expect your parents to pay for that as well? How about helping to get you a house? What about your wedding?

How about you save them a little financial heartache and use your 8k to buy a nice used truck... Then they can save their 30-40k additional to pay for your college. If you still want a Raptor when you have your finances in order and can actually afford it, I say go for it!

I'll tell you a little story about a kid I went to high school with. At 18 he cashed in on a trust fund of about 120k. He bought a new truck, a new car, who knows what the hell else. Not even 2 years later he was flat broke, had totaled the car, sold the truck for a beater and was trying his damnedest to get into a Union with his high school tech degree. A hard lesson to learn if you ask me.

And no, this isn't Jealousy talking, I could really give a crap about vehicles and was ecstatic with my 94 cavalier my dad bought me at 16... I was even ecstatic with the shitbox 05 Neon, he got cheap for us a couple years ago.. a perfect 4th vehicle for us.

Whatever, I'm sure I'm wasting my time here, so...... We financed 40k at a rate of 2.5% and our payment is $714 a month for 5 years. That was roughly 12k down with PA tax and title and a hell of a deal from the dealership. You parents could possible extend the loan terms for a lower payment. And no, the 2012's are not going to go down much when the 2013's come out. Good luck, give your parents my best and be sure to post up pictures of your Raptor when you total it!:lol2:

Read and heed. Wise words right here.

There's plenty of time to get your dream car/truck, just get something decent that's going to last you through college.

Hell when I was 16 my parents got me an 89 Mazda B2600 4x4. It wasn't the most awesome truck out there, but I loved it because I didn't have to worry about driving it like i was 16. I beat the hell out of it on the trails and generally had a great time with it.

That being said, I chose to drive an ugly truck and ride a brand new dirt bike. That was honestly the best decision I could have made. Chicks loved riding with me on that dirt bike! :smoke2:

Wow way to go man. My first car was an 84 Subaru. It got 40 mpg, went downhill like a dream, and the dragging muffler made some sweet sparks! As the others have said, $8000 down won't be enough for $500 or $600 payments. At least not from a dealer. Your best bet I would say is to get some kind of personal loan (or you know, your parents) and buy from a private seller. You're going to get the most leeway that way. A dealer would probably be a bad option. Good luck bud!
