This will not be a Dealer call. Ford will be directly involved make no mistake. Speak for yourself when talking about calling a Ford Store and making an arse of yourself. Learn how these things work first then make comments.. I know you have good intentions but no reason to blow rose colored smoke up the poor OP's shorts lol.

Imagine that the service engineer will be looking at this (think FSE is the term) been there done that. Have had Ford buy back 2 vehicles from me over the years and being somewhat familiar with the process can tell you they will be going through this with a fine tooth comb and if there is no failure of a covered part it will be attributed to the operator.

I hear you...bottom line is you nor I know what Ford is going to do each situation is different...if he drove through a puddle and his truck took a shit...it should be covered hands down...no if ands or ********...

You don't need to be telling the OP he is 4th and ****** either...

You can come across as a real ******** sometimes...

With the truck not running you would have no vacuum to disengage the front drive shafts?

Correct... Ideally the check valves will hold vacuum and keep the front axles from turning. But in 2012 they gave you the option to flat tow by electronically shifting the transfer case into neutral..

Doesn't matter. The transmission is what you don't want internally spinning with the engine off. With the truck (transfer case) in 2x4 the rotation of the parts stop at the tcase. The transmission is isolated at that point.

Fred--sorry you feel that way and I am not really a DH but the truth is the truth. Have been dealing with Ford, GM and MB on many types of issues like this for years. Have had Ford buy back two and MB one--a AMG no less. Ford will Fight This Tooth and nail period. The FSE will be involved from almost day one.

Bottom line here is there is no way you or I know what happened and with the testing Ford does running trucks through water in controlled environmental conditions they have a pretty good idea of what to expect with water ingestion if that was indeed and it sounds like it to me. I have “liquid locked” an engine before and it is not pretty (still have the connecting rod that bent and hit the skirt on #8 on my 502) mine was a fuel problem on the bike long story but was minor compared to what the OP has experienced. When I go into a situation like the OP is I ALWAYS do all of the due diligence and even if there are well meaning people here what the OP is going to experience will be exactly as I have stated with the FSE.

Ford does not like to do any what was previously referred to as “courtesy repairs or goodwill repairs” esp. on something this major. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE PREPARED. Know what you are up against, do the due diligence because Ford Motor Company is not your friend by any stretch of the imagination. Help the poor kid prepare for what is ahead instead of handing him a plastic rifle and sending him into combat. Will tell you this when the SA sees this thing come in on the tow truck and the OP tells him what he has stated above every alarm and procedures will immediately be followed because of the amount of money involved here.

I cannot wait for a update from the OP on this. I have a CAI on mine and you can bet your *** that I am careful about water ingestion!! If I hit a huge puddle --- first thing I do is let off of the gas!! Stop the suction as much as possible ....

Ford Dealership says no way

please tell me what you think about these videos on the Ford Website, i didn't come even CLOSE to going through as much water as they did in these videos, i think that maybe i'm missing a piece somewhere that should have blocked the rain water...i would love to say i've done these things in my truck, i've only ever done some cookies in the mud, but i hoped to do this kind of stuff some day! it's why i spent $65,000 on this truck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

check this video out at 30 seconds in... Playing it safe when off

After watching the videos...I pulled my side vent cover off "DRIVER'S SIDE" and looked down in the hole.

I found this inside...it was not attached to anything just sitting there...It feels like a pieces of packing, but it looks like it should be attached to something, but was not...it was just laying in the hole until i reached in a pulled it out.

I don't know what it is or what it does? Is the purpose to stop water from gaining access to the truck through the vent? Which in turn could prevent water intrusion into the intake? I have no idea?
