Sounds crazy to me but I guess I'm just stupid for not knowing to stay away from water. I had no idea this could happen. Anyways thanks for all the info I guess I'll wait and see Monday what happens...

Told him I had hit a few puddles on the road that day... If hydro locking was never covered it would have been my fault no matter what cause they are going to see water in the engine for sure, the fact that the puddle was "x"in or what ever it was won't matter since the manuel states 40mph max threw water, this is Arizona the desert and when it rains it pools everywhere so hydroplaining on the freeway on a few inches of water isn't uncommon get that the freeway shouldn't be able to hydro lock my truck but with what happened yesterday I'd argue it could given how small the puddles I hit were. Not trying to defend myself, just being realistic.

Maybe it was just dumb luck but my opinion is it shouldnt be that easy to wreck the engine on such h an amazing truck! Alright I'm done crying....we'll see what happens on Monday.

I am pretty sure any dealer will be able to figure out what happened, regardless of whether or not it was posted on a forum. Hydrolocking an engine is something that will not be covered by a warranty, but if the dealer does it anyway, buy them all of the beer they can drink. I would get ready to call the insurance company to make a claim.

The dealer told my brother if they could prove it was water ingestion he would not have gotten a new motor but because all the oil and water was blown out when the motor blew up they had no proof.

So insurance would replace your motor if this happens? wow... I think That really shocks me... guess ive never read the whole policy since ive never had a insurance claim for a vehicle... only a theft when my 74 harley was ripped...

Assuming you have full coverage insurance - then yes....the same way they'd fix your car if you drove into a tree or through your garage door.

But likely the next time your policy comes up for renewal the rates will go through the roof or they will choose not to accept you as a customer.

the fact that the puddle was 6in 12in or what ever it was won't matter since the manuel states 40mph max threw water,

As I already said the manual states the water speeds for various depths of water. It's not 40 mph no matter if it's raining on a highway or a 30" deep river. It's along the lines of as fast as the posted speed limit on a raining highway, down to 5 mph through a 30" river, broken down into several increments of X" of water XX mph, Y" of water YY mph, etc.

If you were doing 40 and hit a 20" deep puddle, water is going to get where it shouldn't. The trucks are made for all kinds of conditions, but this is the same arguement as the bent frames. They're not $250k trophy trucks. Can you hit a 12" whoop? At 20/30/40/etc. mph sure, at 100 mph not without doing damage. Can you go through 12" of water? At 15 mph yeah, at 65 mph not without doing damage. Can you go through 30" of water? At 5 mph yeah, at 40 mph not without doing damage.

Sorry but this is not a Ford issue it is a user issue. You shelled out the motor and it is going to be REAL expensive to replace. Might think about doing a modified engine since this one is toast. People will tell you all kinds of crazy things but tot think Ford will replace this is just like thinking the Easter Bunny will bring you a new motor.

Not what you want to hear but that is the short of the matter---lesson here is that if you play ya gotta pay. Been there done that more than once. Drove 30 miles on a flooded road on my way to hunt elk in NM a few years ago in my Dodge diesel that was higher running 37's anyway----water got in both axles, trans case and the tranny. Relocated vent tubes for the axles but that was a lesson that you do not drive 40mph when the water is 2 feet deep.

Found this all just by accident because the ball joints finally wore out and when servicing the front axle water drained out with the oil. Checked the other axle and the same thing. Now I Never just charge through high water..

Yep, I've seen insurance companies cover all kinds of things, rodent damage, lightning damage, water damage, run over large rock damage, brain damaged owners. They cover a lot when warranty won't.
