So I have my build date of October 20th is it a crap shoot on guessing when it will be ready? How long it take to build?

Built in a day (maybe two depending on what time of day it enters the line), followed by 1-2 weeks for delivery to your local dealer, depending on where they are geographically, which determines if they take delivery via truck or train. Truck, as I understand it, is faster, given that train involves multiple loading and unloading layovers and still involves truck final delivery to the dealership (obviously).

Good luck.

Not that I think it could be done nay differently but knowing my raptor was sitting there. All done, ready to go...but it is waiting on a full truck to be delivered. That would drive me nuts. Would rather hear it was waiting on a part :)
Then I would just fly out there and drive it home!

LOL

Seriously you are trying to justify someone paying over sticker for a Porsche or Ferrari because of resale value?

Actually, if you're going to pay a markup, that seems like a decent justification.

I'm opposed to markups - i.e., price gouging - in principle, regardless the value of what you're buying. MSRPs exist for a reason, and it's precisely to let a consumer to know when they're being taken to the cleaners.

I'm sure you know this already, but if Ford could set your price, they would. If they could eliminate the dealership model, they would. They have no love for you; and apart from obsolete legal barriers, have no need for you.

In my mind that's the only justification there is. The other would be to pay the markup tax because you live your life pursuing instant gratification. I'm not that guy.

I spoke to Dennis again at Team Ford in Vegas.

I wanted to cancel the CF package to help 'speed up' the order process.

He made it very clear, after hearing several people asking to cancel the CF package with the same hopes, that it is not needed.

When the order is pulled from ford, to be given a VIN etc, they immediately inform the dealer if a 'part' or 'configuration' is not available for supply or cancellation reasons.

He said it is the dealers job, who is in formed immediately of the issue, to contact the customer and see what they want to do. If they then remove that 'part or item', the build continues.

There is a 'good' time period before the order is just 'held' or 'cancelled'. It is not an immediate hold forever or 'put to the end of the line' status from it.

He said cancelling it at this point, is just silly. It may come back into 'play or stock' any time and if I really wanted it, then why cancel it, when my order hasn't even been pulled yet.

Basically said that any dealer that tells customers by 'cancelling' or 'changing' a config it gets their order 'taken' by ford faster is just not knowing what they are saying.

What is 'in' an order is not a factor for ford to pull it sooner or later.
Hope this clears some things up for some people.
