I was definitely 3 wheelin' front end down on the ground recently. I need to find time to post some pics and update the rebuild thread.

These are a stealthy install alternative to bumper flush mounts. Very easy one beer install and they mount to the rear of the leaf shackle.

After close inspection and measuring, I determined that offroad they would be out of harm's way mounted there. Just need to drill one hole and easily installs using Rigid's hardware.

These are Rigid Floods and they light it up quite a ways behind the truck with a really nice pattern (vs being in the bumper) due to being closer to the ground at a lower angle.

I have them aimed down slightly but they can be adjusted upward as well. On an Offroad Run I think that being aimed slightly down they will light up the path for the following Raptor without blinding the driver.

Used the Rigid wiring kit that came with the lights, and tapped into the trailer harness for reverse and ground.

John,

How did you tap into the trailer brake wiring for the reverse lights and use a waterproof sealed connection? I'm trying to figure the best way to power mine. I plan to do a similar install. Also, what size bit did you use?

Hey Nick

Originally I unwrapped the trailer harness near the end and tapped into the trailer connection's center plug for power (traced the wire back a ways and just used a a simple slice connector, wrapped it in electrical tape, then re-wrapped the harness. The Rigid ground wire I just mounted to the frame after scuffing some paint off to make a reliable connection. This setup works very well - for reverse only.

I have since run another wire from the positive connection up front by the radiator -> all the way to the back. I put a male quick disconnect terminal on this wire, and then another on the spliced positive wire for reverse coming from the trailer connection's center plug. Then a female quick disconnect terminal on the end of the Rigid red positve wire. These are all secured together up under the rear fender on drivers side so they are easily accessible.

So now all I have to do is look under the fender, and plug in which ever one I want to use.

For daily driver duties - it is always connected to reverse (mostly to assist me when backing up our long dark driveway).

For offroad runs - I switch to the quick disconnect terminal of the hot wire running from up front. This leaves them ON at all times. The Rigids have been covered with Amber tint and aimed slightly down so not blinding the driver behind me.

To disable completely - I just don't make a connection with either quick disconnect terminal.

A switch would be lazier, but this is a bulletproof offroad setup that never fails.

Bit size: I started with a center punch and a small bit for a pilot hole - and then worked my way up the correct size. Not sure which bit was the final one. This is very thick hardened steel and it will take some effort to get this drilled out - but worth it!
