yes, i AM the man. i know. hahahaha.

there is very little room behind the rear seat in the scab. i havent tried mounting anything there yet because i saw it was too narrow. there is the possibility of fitting stufff back there, but with loud volume, i would be worried about thermal protection.

What about a happy medium like a lockbox surrounding the electronics - with proper heat ventilation of course. Say a metal box with cheese grating on every side that isn't visible, including the top? These expensive pretties would take only a minute to remove. I worry too much lol.

This system integrates very well with the OEM head (like yours Joe, mine is the Sony Nav touchscreen version) with no significant issues. The OEM volume control works just fine, with only a slightly detectable audio difference noted.

Because I went with glass fenders, I am using a Dakota Digital powered antenna - which works reasonably well. Reception could be a bit better (especially AM), but this may be due to a haphazard connection I made in a hurry when I didn't have the correct adapter. I need to correct this before I officially critique it.

Noah says length matters lol, and that the very best reception will be obtained with the original antenna (not stubby), because that length of cable and antenna is optimized for the OEM head.

As the volume is cranked, the exhaust notes fade into oblivion - even if the exhaust is wide open with the Y-pipe uncapped at FOT. I wish I had done this years ago. I love it so much!

johns truck get very loud. and at that volume, it does not lose quality. it will pretty much drown out any other noise the truck has, and then some. haha

as far as a box to put the equipment in, i dont see a reason why you couldnt. it would just be the heat dispersment that is the important part. we have very limited space in the supercabs so mounting options are limites as well.

That looks very similar to the one I installed. I powered it from the fuse block and ran it up the A pillar and then across the top. Two-sided tape stuck it behind the rear view mirror with all wires tucked out of sight under headliner and A Pillar trim for a clean install. Needs adapter from stock Ford connection to that universal male connector.
