Hybrid Method NV's

Changed the hardware from brass to stainless (since everything on my truck's exterior is either black or stainless).

Paint change to Matte Black: for the bumpers and flares - matching the door trim and Method NV color

And

Raptor Mood Lighting Build:

For the longest time, I muddled around aimlessly trying to find the right lighting combo for my truck. I would see various looks that I liked, but they were scattered here and there and I could never quite pull it together.

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and my light mods were born here getting ideas from rigs all over this forum. Thanks guys.



My Light Mod Pics:

After I killed my front bumper chasing the lighted crazies around at Lil Sahara, I knew it was time to get it done. For now I am keeping the stock bumpers because my old garage is a tight fit with just a few inches to spare, but also because I can replace them very cheaply when they get banged up thanks to all the surplus takeoffs out there.

Here's what I came up with:

REAR:

Laminex Smoked 3rd Brake Light

Recon Smoked LED Tail Lights







Rigid Dually Floods for reverse and work lighting - stealthy install under the bed. These are tucked up in a strategic location behind the rear leaf mount which protects them when offroading. (I may switch to Diffusion Lenses for better close-up coverage, although the Floods have a much better pattern at this lower angle compared to the higher flush-mount bumper approach).

FRONT:

Rigid Dually Spots - driving lights (much less bright than D2's and safely aimed down slightly so won't blind oncoming traffic.

Whelan Micro Pioneers - around the license plate (with Spot lens covers for use as driving lights - come with 3 other flood lens combinations)

Rigid 40" Light Bar - behind grill (Spot center pattern with Flood on the edges)

Raptor Retrofit 2013 Black HID Headlights with EVO-X 50 watt bulb upgrade and LED strips with Evil Eye for that mean menacing presence. Having the LED's on separate switches allows for.........

Just in time for a quick day run in June to Lil Sahara for a Big Air Raptor Photo JumpShoot for the Airborne Raptor of the Month Contest.



Lost my bumper cap on the way there...

Fueling up just outside of town I noticed something was definitely amiss with the look of my Raptor. I had to drive the entire day (and night) looking like this


and worrying about getting pulled over by the po po for having no rear plate. We kinda expect our trucks might look like this on the way back from a Jump Run, but not both coming and going. Now I know how Rasco rolls lol.


So I tried to make sure there was another Raptor behind me on the highway, and of course it didn't matter anymore once we got to the sand pit


On this kind of run, you're mostly gonna get pics from the front anyways







But at least one pic from behind....





Thankfully got home ok without any highway patrol issues, and the next day told my wife I was going looking for it. Really? says she looking at me like I was nutz. What if trucks had been taking turns running over it?

But I head out anyway and halfway out of town what do I spy over on the RIGHT shoulder of the road... could it be? (I had been doing 100 in the left HOV lane trying to catch up with the Raptor convoy which had already departed).


Hells yeah! There it was... mine all mine - a bit scraped up on the edges but intact and the plate didn't look any worse for the wear.


So I snapped it back on and firmly secured it with two bolts below the plate so that bitch never gets away again.

Looks just fine with maybe a tad bit more character and a funny story to go with it - a keeper for sure haha.



.....and later the FRF Trophy Beer Stein for the contest lol. Another keeper that I will be drinking beer out of at every Raptor Run I go on from here on out!

Fast Forward now to last minute preps for the newest addition to the FRF Raptor Runs.... Raptoberfest TRR!

Danny and the boys at TMX got my Fox 3.0's off for a quick RPG version rebuild, revalve, and tuning....



And a few more items shipped in.... just in time! (Thanks Jeff and the RPG gang!)

Thanks! That's exactly the look I was going for! My truck is in the shop, but I will get some pics of behind the grill 40" mounting - pretty standard install though. The heads are by the grand wizard himself, Dawson at RaptorRetrofit.

Thanks! I get a lot of good comments on this look. I went directly to he source and called Method to order the one-piece stainless hardware that comes on the Method Standard wheel.

Thanks Keaton! That look would be sick on your truck! On his thread, Dawson recently had white accent 2013 heads that looked amazing. You definitely should check with him and see what he can do for you.
