All valid points. Again it all comes down to marketability and trying to sell as many trucks as possible by pleasing as many people as possible.

Like I said and I agree with you, it should have an enthusiast mode or a "turn all the nanny shit off mode and let me pick instead".

When you're creating a vehicle that's approaching 20' long, is over 7' wide, and gets less than 15 mpg in real world driving, pleasing as many people as possible isn't really a consideration.

It's a very limited market.

One thing that I am not sure anyone has mentioned is that the Raptor is a tiny percentage of total F150 sales. Call it a Halo or Hero model it does help to sell other versions of the F150.

I am sure that Ford knew they could sell a few and that is how they made the decision to bring it to market and each year the sales went up from around 10,000 the first year to over 19,000 in 14.

If it wasn't for all the people that bought the Gen 1 truck and our enthusiasm there would be no Gen 2. Now the Gen 2 will not be for everyone as is the case for lots of other models of vehicles as they change them. Will it be nice yes, could it be an improvement yes but maybe not for all of us.

I do not think Ford is dumbing down or making it softer they are trying to improve it maybe not to all of our liking. They are not trying to make the truck more marketable by adding these drive modes it is simply applying the technology that is out there today. I am really tired of the BS bickering and I hope both sides take a break. That is all!!!

Ya, shockingly, Ford is redesigning the F-150 line to SELL MORE OF THEM. GEN1 owners made the Raptor what it is today and if Ford gets it right, most of us will be GEN2 owners. Let's go back to knocking Dodge and Cheby's and not other Raptor owners.

I'm actually impressed that this thread is staying reasonable and that is exactly why I created it. A place where gen1 owners can discuss the gen2 without all the non-Raptor owners or future gen2 owners going bonkers every time we discuss things we don't like with the new Raptor. Carry on...

The F150 has been the number one seller for like 30 or 40 years. Long before the Raptor existed.

Funny, I don't even consider my Raptor a F150. It's just not a pickup truck, and even when I call it a truck, I feel a little weird about it. It's in a class of it's own. And you're right, we should all try getting along. All us enthusiast that is.........
