As far as I can see this is a discussion no "butt hurt" I can't believe I just typed that I hate that term! I wish you would tone it down. I most likely will by a Gen 2 in a few years and will miss my Gen 1 when it finally reaches it end for me. Please think before you post.

Ok let's agree to disagree on the halo thing. SVT/Ford performace or what ever it's been called through the years has made models that people aspire to own and if they can't afford it then they buy the regular model instead (Ford hopes).

I am not a fan of the new engine but I do see the potential of the tuning side which I guess comes from my 36 years of modifying cars. I think the new engine meets many things Ford wants, power improvements, fuel improvments (maybe not real world), marketability, weight reduction, to name a few but tuning is not one of them.

I don't think we are that far off, actually. I can see some overlap between the halo vehicle and the niche vehicle and, my personal favorite, the loss leader.

I'm not really brand loyal, though, so there's no reason for me to get behind an engine that doesn't excite me (or anybody else). The TTV6 is extremely uncommon as far as performance cars/trucks go. And there's a reason for that.

My Raptor is strictly a toy. If/when I'm ultimately done with it Ford doesn't have anything interesting to replace it with, I'll get into something else.

The reality that people aren't seeing is that engines today make a TON of power. With most "performance" oriented cars making over 100hp/L it is bound to happen. Even the Hyper Cars (take the P1) is a 3.8L V8. The replacement for displacement is boost because it quite literally crams extra oxygen into the cylinder making it perform like a larger size engine when needed.

If anyone likes appealing to its base its Ford. How long did it take them to go IRS in the Stang?? I'll bet they will make another V8 down the line but its not going to be anything like we are used to today. It will be small displacement and it will have boost. They are sticking with the EBoost for the time being because they have all this amazing endurance racing and R&D wrapped up in the EBoost TTV6. Why waste it?? If the GT pulls off Le Mans this year it would make me that much more excited to have it in my vehicle. Is it exactly the same? No, but things definitely trickle down. That is what makes racing fun for me anyway. Pushing limits of technology and walking the walk. F1 is boring compared to endurance racing. Its not just about fast, its about being consistent and reliable. Do I prefer the sound of a V8? Of course! Is it a deal breaker to the point I have to whine about it on the internet? Not for a second.

The TTV6 is extremely uncommon as far as performance cars/trucks go.

Jaguar XJ220 was a TTV6, was the fastest car in the world for a year and held the fastest lap at the Nürburgring for 8 years.
Porsche seems to like Turbo 6s, just a different shape...
Audi's S4 started a TTv6, went v8 and is back to S/C'd V6 (my uneducated guess is it will go back to turbos with the new current gen)
Audi R18 Le Mans Race Car is a V6T
Caddys and its rumored that Camaros are now rocking TTV6s
GTR... No slouch.

Dodge Stealth RT
I could go on...

Trucks are quite a bit more limited...

Dont forget BMW that went from their inline 6 cyc to a v8 back to an inline 6 cyc but twin turbo in their m3 and m4.

Hell, even Ferrari is most likely coming out with a ttv6 around 2019 to compete with the 911 Turbo S, Merc-AMG GT, and the McLaren 570s.

I don't think we are whining. I call it debating. Or arguing. I'm getting sick of the whining cop-out. I am also getting sick of having to hear about LeMans when it comes to a 3 ton off road vehicle. I'm ready to hear about Baja, Dakar, ect.

So lets not be afraid to argue or debate. And let's talk about things that apply to our trucks. And let's keep the ******** down from the non-owners so us actual owners can have an intelligent conversation without the unicorns all mixed in with it.......

In Dakar, Peugeot uses a V6 twin turbo diesel, they smoked Robby with his big bad N/A V8.
