The F150 has been the number one seller for like 30 or 40 years. Long before the Raptor existed.

I think You have missed my point. Yes the F150 is a great seller, what I am saying is Raptor helps to sell more regular F150s it's a halo/hero car. Every manufacture has them.

Ya, shockingly, Ford is redesigning the F-150 line to SELL MORE OF THEM. GEN1 owners made the Raptor what it is today and if Ford gets it right, most of us will be GEN2 owners. Let's go back to knocking Dodge and Cheby's and not other Raptor owners.

Yes the F150 re design is meant to sell more of all F150 models and the Raptpr version works a a halo/hero car to hepl sell more. Other wise we would all be driving F100 s from the old days if they did not need re designs every few years to sell more.

Yeah but the raptor set sales records for trucks, google it

It has meet and exceed all sales expectations that Ford projected, is that a record?

I have owned lots of cars and trucks lets just say in the neighborhood of 55 both domestic and import and the Gen 1 Raptor is in my top 4 for overall enjoyment! I work in the auto industry for all makes launching new models so my data base of vehicles is vast and the Gen 1 Raptor is my favorite pick up truck to date. I am looking forward to working with the Gen 2 Raptor in the near future and hope it is as cool as the one I have now.

I don't agree that every manufacturer has a halo vehicle. What's Honda's? What's Toyota's? What about Hyundai? Kia?

Furthermore, I think you missed MY point. The F150 has been the top seller without a "halo" for many decades. The Raptor was not created as "halo" vehicle. It was created as "niche" vehicle, as were all SVT vehicles. The Raptor outsold any/all expectations because it was so appealing to enthusiasts. Even enthusiasts who hadn't considered a Ford since their 1993 Mustang Cobra. Ask me how I know.

Sticking the 3.5EB in the Raptor is definitely a marketing move, though, one that was meant to put a "halo" on an engine with little interest to enthusiasts. That much we can agree on.

Ok let's agree to disagree on the halo thing. SVT/Ford performace or what ever it's been called through the years has made models that people aspire to own and if they can't afford it then they buy the regular model instead (Ford hopes).

I am not a fan of the new engine but I do see the potential of the tuning side which I guess comes from my 36 years of modifying cars. I think the new engine meets many things Ford wants, power improvements, fuel improvments (maybe not real world), marketability, weight reduction, to name a few but tuning is not one of them.

My .02c. Carry on.
