I have a 2011 Raptor with aftermarket wheels. The spare tire looked original and I wanted to see what rim it was so I tried to lower the spare tire, but I couldn't get the hoist/winch to lower the tire. The truck was going in for an oil change so I asked the dealer to get the winch working. They returned the truck and told me someone stripped the square female socket in the winch and the part was no longer available. The truck jack kit looked brand new so I had a hard time believing that anyone has ever accessed the spare tire. Short version is that I was able to get the spare tire down, I removed the spare tire winch and the square female socket is a 12mm square socket. The winch is in perfect condition. The tire jack kit has a rod that is closer to 3/8" square, so it was just spinning in there. My guess is I have a standard F150 jack kit and the Raptor jack kit is beefier??? I'd like to get the correct tool to lower the spare tire - does anyone know if the Raptor jack kit is from an F250? I THINK (but don't know) the F250 has a beefier spare tire winch.

What is the size of the spare tire and what rim is it on? I bought my 2011 Raptor with a missing spare.

I had a problem with mine after not cleaning or lubing for a couple years it just would spin also . Now it works perfectly. Not sure if that helps. I’m sure you could get something rigged .

I have both a regular 12th Gen F-150 (2013) and Gen 1 Raptor (2014) and both use the same jack equipment and both accept the same sized square drive, which is larger than 3/8".

I never measured it but I believe 12mm sounds about right because I made my own winch tool out of a 1/2" drive extension to use with the winch.

I wanted to quickly lower and raise the spare with my cordless 1/2" drive impact gun that I always bring with me when off-roading, so I modified a 2-foot, 1/2" drive impact extension by grinding down adjacent flats as the 1/2" drive end is too big.

This modified extension fits both my Raptor and regular F-150 spare winches as I used it recently to drop the spares on both trucks.

So it sounds like the winch rod you found in your Raptor may not be the correct one.

Post a photo of the entire winch handle so we could compare it to our own, and while you're at it, the scissors jack as well.
