Again I didn't mean to bruise ego's. And you are very welcomed to your opinion. And I do not know what part of maine you are from, but I live right on the coast, and this is my second raptor so I am not a hater of the truck. As I stated in the opening thread I listed at least 7 reasons why I love the Raptor, although I feel it is a poor choice for a majority of east coast truck owners because when you pay the price you pay for a raptor and only utilize 30-50 percent of what it was built for it kind of seems like a waste. Think about it, it's like using a D-8 cat bulldozer to build a driveway when you could use a much more efficient D-3 Cat bulldozer for the application and size of the job.

In response to your comment, " it only works in the desert", I never said that. Again there are a few area's in Maine, and I mean very few, where you might utilize 50 percent of the trucks intended use, and you may actually live in one of those locations , but I do not.

You certainly would not last long in business using the wrong tools for the application.

Im not personally offended, I just find it odd that you are applying your own experience to a vast majority of other people because of.... reasons?

You have repeated that the truck isnt useful on the east coast because it doesnt get used appropriately.

I guess could you expand on what your idea of "utilizing what it was built for" means?

You are right, frost heaves up here are brutal. The raptor absorbs those well. I have a 2019 with the live shocks and it is definitely better as far as " float over the road", as the 2017 and 2018, but if you hit a frost at the wrong angle it can still unsettle the truck pretty bad due to the off road suspension.

And I hope I did not offend you when I responded to your post earlier, as I respect the fact that you actually have first hand experience with a raptor and the LX 570. And I do agree with some of the facts you brought up.

No offense taken at all - everyone has their own opinions and they are entitled to them. To use your same logic - what sense in buying an LX570 to the tune of $90k+ when you could buy a nicely optioned Toyota 4Runner for $35k and do absolutely everything the same. The LX570 is overkill in the world of SUVs. No two ways about it - Overkill is a term that comes hand in hand with the Raptor. Nobody on this forum bought their Raptor to be modest. They bought it because it will do just about anything you want to throw at it in terms of on and off road use, its practical as in it can haul people, cargo and tow things, you can also look good and go fast doing it. Not to mention the added perks of the suspension and ride quality and comfort. I would always rather be the guy with the gun at a knife fight....:)

But to say the Raptor shouldn't be marketed on the east coast based on your own assumptions of people utilizing the capability of the truck - i think that is where you started to lose us....Most things (especially high performance things) are not utilized to their full capacity. Until this truck gives me good reason to not own another, I will always own one.

I installed Deaver +3s and it nearly eliminated the unsettled feeling over chop. I was suprised what a difference it made.

Yes you are right. The LX 570 IS excess, but with the LX 570 or the land cruiser I feel like they are more tailored for the environment that I live in. Meaning that the LX 570 is a luxury SUV that is as capable off road as any stock vehicle you can buy off the show room floor and although it has plenty of off road tech built in, for me it is more usable off road tech for driving on roads that I drive on here in maine along the coast. Now in saying all that I know with winter tires, studded or not, the LX 570 is a tank in the snow and off road. Due to it's size it is a lot easier to maneuver around when I'm in portland. It is also very well built, built for a 25 year life span with very little to no problems. The overall interior quality is second to none with high end materials. Now I liked to hunt in the fall, The LX 570 or the land cruiser are about 2 of the ONLY large SUV'S that I would take doing activities like that, and I'm not including land rovers in that conversation because they are no where's near as well built or reliable as the LX 570.

Now is the LX 570 overkill ? Yes. But it is still like taking a gun to a knife fight, but instead of being 30-50 percent efficient you are being 70 percent efficient and you don't feel like 70 percent of the vehicle is being wasted and unused because you don't live out west in desert country.

Great video. And your video illustrates exactly what I have been trying to say. In this video I assume you are driving on a frozen lake on snow and ice. In a situation like that, yes the raptor is a lot of fun ! If you slide sideways on the ice who cares, it's wide open and you are not going to hit anybody or anything. Wide open tracts of land is what that truck is built for. But on icey paved roads the OEM tires suck !

I think your 50% correct 70% of the time. :)

I am sure there is some 80/20 rule here, if not more lopsided. I am confident that less than 10% of raptor owners use the truck to 80% of it's "intended purpose", then probably only 50% of the time.

The Raptor is 100% overkill and looks badass. Like many here, I've probably spent more on stupider shit, 100%.

I used to own the LX470 for 8 years, and I occasionally hunt. I would not be comfortable throwing the kill (deer, hogs) in the back of an SUV due to ticks and blood. Yes I can throw tarp all over the SUV's back, but it's definitely not as practical has throwing my kill on the truck bed, then hosing all the blood off when I get home.

Now only if I can get my Raptor to be as reliable as the Lexus....

Your raptor WILL NEVER be as reliable as a LX 570. Now as far as hunting goes, a cargo hauler works real good for hauling your deer out and you do not have to worry about getting blood inside of the LX 570. Now if you have a trailer you can always hook up the trailer and put the deer on the trailer. Although if you do not like having to worry about backing up with the trailer, the cargo haulers work real well for SUV'S during hunting season.
