As others said, it's overkill for what you needed, but who cares? It's a badass truck and mine puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. I knew if I settled on a regular F150 I'd be jealous every time I saw a Raptor drive by.

In Michigan I live about 3 hours from Silver Lake, so I do get to play on sand dunes a few times a year. It is substantially better there than a regular pickup, but even without going offroad I likely would've bought one anyway.

Do folks who buy Lamborghini, Ferrari, 911 Turbo, MB AMG, BMW M series, Vipers, Hellcat, GT 500..ect ,really need all that? Do they regularly take them out to the track? They are way over built for what most use them for.

What about all the lifted trucks with big tires (Raptor wannabes) ? do those folks go offloading all the time? Do they need a 6 inch lift?

What about all the Land Rover's out there...do they need the sand mode?

I would say most high end vehicles are over built for what most need or use them for.

I say relax.... Enjoy the ride! We have an awesome truck that is as fast as a many sports cars, unbeatable offload, carries 5 people, can haul and tow!

I bought the Raptor for the same reason I would buy an M5 an RS7, or Z06/ZR1, GT350/GT500... cuz its the Alpha. Not only do I love these cars, but so do most car people. If you are not a car person, then yes, you should have gotten the Platinum/Limited. But even those trucks would be similar in price to the Raptor... you would have to slide down the ladder to a Lariat.

I plan on visiting Maine this summer and have a look at some of those logging roads.
Going to check out Barrens too.
Raptors just look right compared to other Ford trucks. IMHO

I drive mine to work and that's it. Yes it is overkill and that's why I love it! I've been after one of these for almost 10 years and last October I finally was able to convince the wife to let me buy one. Now she's hooked and wants a cool car too!

Mine never goes off road. The only workout it gets is the speed bumps in the supermarket lot and I try to avoid those. I first considered an F-150 Limited, then an Expedition Platinum before really focusing on the Raptor. After sitting in quite a few of all 3, I knew the Raptor was what I wanted.

I'm 251 miles into ownership, and loving every minute of it. Like Fastback89 said, I too have been waiting almost 10 years for my very own Raptor.

1. It's the best looking truck on the road, and Performance Blue puts the icing on the cake.
2. It handles this snowy, midwest weather like a champ.
3. The ride is so much smoother than my previous pickups.
4. and pretty much all the reasons you had as well.
