Yea, plus I got the truck with 14k miles on it (from a Ford dealer), and I’m guessing $61.5k on a trade is as good as it will get. Which I’m ok with.

Buyback is really only if you have chronic unresolved issues over a period of time. You may be able to push Ford on it, but the path of least resistance is the one you're on. You can browse the forum and find topics (including several recent ones) on the buyback process for direct information and some anecdotes.

It's laborious and lengthy, to say the least.

I'm curious, if you ordered PB, did you also get the Blue Recaro interior? The interior is a must for me, but just not sure how the Blue on Blue will work.

Update:
  • The dealer with the truck is still taking pics of the heads to send to Ford. I assume to get approval on the motor.
  • Still not word on where else in the motor they found metal.
  • The new motor is on back order until the first of November.
  • After much more reading, I will feel better about trading this truck in for a 2019. I received a trade in offer go $61.5k from a neighbor dealer, but that would have to wait my truck to get fixed, so I'm trying to get the dealer with my truck now, to offer $61.5 on the trade so I will order the 19' with them.
  • I've also got the 'high offer Dealer' looking into getting the truck sent to them for repair, since the repair hasn't started yet. They are only a few miles away and are better to work with anyways. This would be my ideal scenario at this point.

Figured I'd do another update, for those who may be interested.

  • Neighbor dealer offered 61.5 but I let the current dealer, with the truck, try to match. They didn't move up a single cent on their initial trade in offer of $58k.
  • It would have helped to buy the 19 from the dealer who has the truck, so they would own the truck now and I could care less when it was finished, but their sales dept is terrible.
  • So I'm putting my build in with neighbor dealer for the 19 tomorrow and will just hope my truck is finished soon so I can drive it straight to the dealer who I'm ordering the 19 with.
  • The dealer who is currently repairing the truck is the same dealer who changed the oil 3 weeks before the motor blew....that could be a useless connection, but it's in the back of my mind for some reason.

Thanks for the updates. Curious to see how this all plays out for you

Thanks!

I’ve never owned an American made car before the Raptor. All Toyota’s and a Nissan GT-R. Now I’m 3 months into my first Ford, and this,

Oh well, first world problems

Sorry for the delayed reply, just returned from a business trip.

Yes, I went with the blue interior. I'm sure it won't be an exact match to the outside, but I doubt that will bother me. My entire reason for wanting the blue/recaro/CF interior is because the inside of a Raptor is very much a standard F150 (which I already drive). The accent package sets it apart.

I honestly would have rather had the orange, but oh well... The blue certainly looks pretty badass too.

Thanks for the updates. It's a bummer you're having to go through this, but fwiw I've been driving a '16 XLT like it was stolen for the past three years, and I just encountered my first issue: The windshield wipers randomly turn on. It happened right after the update to Sync 3.0, so I'm sure the two are connected. Ford really should stay out of IT... They're absolutely awful at it.

But the moral is, Ford sells more pickups than any other manufacturer for a reason: They're well built, they last, and imo they're just a step ahead of the other guys (Except IT). Your situation sucks, but that's what warranties are for and you're definitely in the minority. You'll probably get hit my lightning before you have the same problem with your '19.

I kinda like that it won't be an exact match, more of an offsetting color instead of looking like it 'couldn't' match. I like orange better too, but I also like all the Alcantara on the seat on even the console. Much more than the Orange and you're right, there is even some subtle carbon graphic on some additional pieces other than the standard carbon pieces. That helps is separate a bit.

Exactly. I'm turning around and buying the exact same truck again so I guess I haven't lost too much confidence in them, lol.
