Anything that touches oil either is cleaned or recycled if you cant guarantee its cleaned. I've totally disassembled oil pumps and other parts like that and meticulously cleaned them to save $ but parts like oil coolers are disposable. You can never guarantee that they are free of debris.

Its possible that you could totally replace the entire engine - air cleaner to oil pan - and not replace the oil cooler and you would be better off stabbing yourself with a fork. That crap will haunt you or the next unsuspecting owner later. Braided stainless steel turbo oil lines come to mind, throw them in the trash. Another great example of what you can't see you have to assume is dirty.

Yea, it’s backwards but I promise it’s true...makes no sense.

They won’t commit to how much the will devalue my trade, and to a certain extent, I cant blame them. I had hoped they would hold the value since I take great cars of my truck and it won’t have but a couple hundred more miles, but oh well.

I doubt it even matters, since my motor is on backorder until 10-29. So my guess is I won’t be getting my truck back until December.

Now I’m trying to decide between the white 19’ they have ordered (no vin yet) or ordering a velocity blue. My current truck is white but I have always like the blue color.

Ouch. Did they give a reason for the backorder?

All great info....and even more reason for me to be a bit apprehensive on just getting a new long block and expecting no issues.

I will ask today what else will be replaced in addition to the long block.

Especially when they still can't tell me why it blew in the first place. Which I don't necessarily fault them for, but.....

Ive gone through plenty of race engines to know this. It's not as simple as when metal comes in contact with metal and the shavings that result take a straight path to the oil filter and do not pass go. They flow around in the cam journals, rod bearings, piston rings, cam timing solenoids, main bearings, timing chains, oil pump, running through the turbos and everything else until they finally make their way to the oil filter and are trapped. The oil cooler will have particles in it pretty much forever lodged in the passages just waiting to pop out later. You have to assume everything that touches oil is compromised.

This is super helpful. So the next page in the thread you posted, had a Ford Edge? and a GT, both in PB. They have made me re think my blue....since you're' right, VB is much more vibrant. But I honestly think the PB may be closer to my blue in my company.

The GT is a color called liquid blue. According to others (and I don't doubt them), the liquid blue is a much more expensive paint process that isn't cost effective to reproduce on a larger scale. PB is an assembly line friendly copy of liquid blue, but without the depth and color changing behavior of liquid blue.

The edge is their 2019 addition to the Ford Performance line, and also comes in performance blue (pictured in the thread you viewed). I believe only the Raptor and Edge are available in PB, and only the performance series vehicles. Which is another reason why I like the color. VB is very common, whereas the only vehicles you will see in PB will be the 2019 Raptor and the 2019 Edge ST.

As for which betters matches your logo, I think you'd be fine with either one. My vote is PB, but I'm also biased.

Thanks for the help man, I think you're right. The VB is a little more attention grabbing and I'd probably be happy with PB in the long run.

Thanks

big thing is how long will truck be in service; I would try to go thru the Ford and ask for a buy back etc. it never hurts to try. As for the over MSRP. thats crazy there are a lot of raptor around; I really did not think they were doing that.
as for the motor. I'm in your boat as we'll but my service guy said all was ok with oil changes. I'm on 2nd pan now because of leaks and had a CAM sensor replaced, Oild pressure has been ok so far but I feel the sound is not right and at times it sounds like it has a "THE KNOCK" sound like a diesel. Keep us posted

I thought about the buy back thing...but I guess I also thought that may be a pipe dream/unrealistic of me. But I did call Ford Customer service yesterday, so maybe I should see what they say?

Buyback is really only if you have chronic unresolved issues over a period of time. You may be able to push Ford on it, but the path of least resistance is the one you're on. You can browse the forum and find topics (including several recent ones) on the buyback process for direct information and some anecdotes.

It's laborious and lengthy, to say the least.
