My oil was just changed on 9/19 at my dealer. And this happened exactly one month later, about 1k miles.

And my motor was completely stock.

Today my tech said they are taking pics of the heads for ford and have an eta fix tomorrow.

Meanwhile my sales guys there are are still trying to sell me the 18’ on lot for 1k over sticker..saying they are giving me a $9k discount.

Wait, weren't they at MSRP (claiming it was a $10k discount) earlier?

Yep, I think they may have forgot?

They sent an email offering 1k more on my trade (59k) and ‘reminded me that they are discount the raptor 9k.’

I would tell them you have no interest in that other truck even if you do. Keeping your foot in that door could cause a delay getting your truck fixed in hopes of you giving up and buy their over priced truck.

I would tell them to (politely) get bent. If they forgot their previous offer, they're bad at their job. If they didn't, that's unprofessional and insulting.

If you *really* want to push it forward, tell them '19 Raptors at MSRP are more common than not (I got mine simply by asking, got them to go below MSRP with a five minute discussion). '18s are well below MSRP.

At this point, tell them no thanks and your intent is to take your repaired truck down the road to a neighboring dealer who is willing to play ball at a price you're comfortable with.

What type of oil is every one running? I’m running royal purple in mine, I think the factory runs regular oil....

the truck comes stock with a 5w20 synthetic. I quizzed Blackstone on this, as the manual calls for 5w30, and they stood by the claim. I specifically had 5/30 put in at oil change 1 and the analysis confirmed it was 5w30.

The manual calls for a synthetic or semi-synth. oil of the proper viscosity, so it’s very likely Ford is delivering with a semi-synth 5w20.
Check out the oil analysis from those of us who have posted it. They’re not flagging any unusual developments - of course because we haven’t had any onset of problems.

It probably wouldn’t hurt to have an oil analysis done if for any reason the engine gets torn down, even if the mechanic finds nothing, you could score findings in the oil analysis.

worth keeping in mind.

If there was metal in the oil filter then I wouldn't accept any notion of shortblock, you need the whole deal, turbos and all. If its like the 6.4 Powerstroke, I believe FORD parts requires you even replace the intercooler when replacing that entire engine to engage warranty on the replacement.

This is EXACTLY my thought....But there is no procedure for what I want in this situation.

I was running the factory oil, 5W-30. Thats whats they put in the truck when the dealer changed the oil last month.

So I had a neighbor dealer offer me $61.5 for my truck, fixed. Now, they won't come off MSRP on the Leadfoot they have on lot, but thats really fine by me because I'll just order a 19 from them at MSRP.

At this point, I've told the dealer who has the truck that I have no interest in trading the truck with them since I dont think we can agree on a deal.

I will be talking with the neighbor dealer who offered 61.5 today, in hopes I can get a 19' ordered and minimize the time with no truck.
