I have been through two sets of 35" Grabbers and only had the stock tires on for about a week.

When I switched to 37’s I lost the capability to carry two spares. I know you can stuff a 37 under the truck, but I am going to be installing a prerunner rear bumper and I am not a fan when the tire hangs below the bumper. So I decided to move both spares into the bed. The Outlaw rack is a great product and a great deal. It would just not work for everything I carry. So I called up Connor and had him send me out a rack with just the spare tire racks mounted and from there I would add on.

I started by placing what I need to carry in their locations and started building the back half of the rack.









I wanted to be able to take the cage out in two pieces so I would be able to do it myself. So I welded heim joints to the end of two of the tubes and attached them to the Outlaw rack.





The next step was making the mount for my jack.





I ran out of Argon gas so I had to stop for the day. Nest weekend I will finish up the back half of the cage and then add a few things to the Outlaw cage. Then when I am all finished I will get it Line X to match the bed.

I finished my bed cage over the weekend. I picked it up Saturday morning from being Line X and started with the finishing details.





I had ordered a jack plate and mount from Tim at DMZ and welded his mount onto the rack. The plate fit the jack great and the mount is very solid and secure.





This is how I set up the back of the cage. I carry my recovery equipment, bigger tools and spare parts in the black bin. I mounted my tool kit under the jack and the ice chest on the right. (I am waiting on a Y strap to hold it in place)





For the rest of the cage, the High Lift Jack is mounted low on the cage, (I have only used this twice in two years so I am not worried about getting to it quickly), gas cans on the right, fluid carrier, Power Tank and dust light on the left.







I am very happy with how it turned out. After using my old cage for a year, I tried to make this one as user friendly as I could.

Noah, unless someone wants something very specific, the Outlaw rack is a great deal. To make one of these at home is a huge amount of work and expense. I am in this about the same as it would cost to have it made. When you start adding up all the cost it’s amazing how fast it adds. I have 45 feet of tubing in the back half alone, $150, my Argon bottle ran out, $45, misc. fab supplies, $100-$150, Line X $540, three days of work, and what I paid for the unfinished Outlaw rack.
