You had to appologize for other members behavior... on the internet?

You could have easily deleted everythign in one swoop, and should have if that was the case.

Sorry it got out of hand. At least we have THIS thread, where people can come and argue all day now! haha
When I approach my contacts, its my ugly mug they see. When I send them a link, its my recommendation it comes with. When I put my hand out, its my honor they're weighing. When they consider my request, its my reputation they're relying on. And when the whole thing goes up in flames, you bet your ass its me apologizing for wasting their time. And its me hoping they take me seriously the next time I come knocking.

I could be wrong, but I get the feeling you've never worked with corporate sponsors before, where you're coming from the grass roots position. Right or wrong, it seems its more about the 'who' and less about the 'what'.

And... with all that being said, you couldn't delete the posts, and get it back on track? This is the exact reason moderators exist. Then if people cried fowl, you could post the very reply I'm quoting, and all would be well. Seems you're more content with blaming ME and others for what happened in the name of non-censorship, than correcting the actual issue at hand, and maintaining your credibility and not having to appologize for anything.

But it's your decision. I just would have done it far differently.

Damned if I do, damned if I don't.

I admit it. I wasn't prepared for how all this went down. Having pulled off 8 or 9 events as big or bigger than the Shock Shootout over the years, I've come to expect a certain... response. When things didn't go that way, I considered my options and made the call. I understand and appreciate you don't agree with it.

So, again, fire your own event up and make your own calls. Like 'stoner said, I might even be able to help in some small ways. An extra set of hands is never a bad thing.

Accepted.

My comment was made because you specifically are one of the main reasons the whole thing had to be shut down. To have one of the main problem people telling you why it could have been saved? That's the definition of ironic, in my book.

But I think you knew that.

For you to blame BlueSVT publicly because you decided not to continue with the shoot out is Ludacris. That sounds like a cop-out if I have ever heard one. Seems wrong on so many levels!

It's a monumental task, and almost impossible to pull off without "perceived" bias.

Any time somebody switches shocks, and then says they love their setup, they're suddenly bias! LOL

In the end, it may not even be worth pursuing. We all know they're and upgrade from stock, we all know they're going to allow you to be mini-BJ Baldwins, and as long as the owner is happy with their setup, that's all that matters.

What you COULD do (and you're very good at) is put together a well-written and comprehensive "Aftermarket Shocks FAQ" and collect data and information for each shock, listing their features and selling points. Maybe even include user-submitted videos of each brand in action. No bias, no OPINIONS, nothing but factual data, manufacturers selling points, and examples of them in action. From there, people can make their own informed opinion.

Keep the thread locked, only to have content added by yourself or another moderator. This thread then becomes the "FAQ" for people who pose the inevitable "Which shock should I buy" question...

This is an EXTREME example... but on NASIOC, the moderator over there did a hell of a job making FAQs for this very reason:

Fair enough. Opinions, and ********, and all that.

But you may want to keep reading... seems you missed the part where Blue steps up and owns his role its demise. And for that I'm grateful.

That's an interesting idea. And it may be the answer we're all looking for. I'll kick it around, and maybe someone will call the ball in the mean time. Lots of very impartial educated critical thinkers on this forum.

That whole FAQ page would be a great idea... With a variety of well put together technical write-ups all in one place.

I think he was just being nice and trying to beery the hatchet, maybe he just missed this post with everything going on. I'm not stupid and neither are others I can now see whats going on, stop shifting the blame.
I'll say it again to blame him for something you did is absurd and wrong.

I don't think its that he doesn't want to spend time cleaning up a train wreck of a thread but more as (and my opinion) he shouldn't have to. The thread went to shit and that's that. The shock shootout is an awesome idea but the reality of it happening is just too hard.

The FAQ idea is a good one. Maybe let the vendors and shock companies post their information on their products in there as well as the mods managing it.
