My raptor arrived same way. Sometimes I wish Raptor was made by someone else...

If you really feel that way then you obviously don't read much. Do some research on the recycled metal used in Chevy and other manufacturers and you'll see it's hardly a problem unique to Ford vehicles. Here....this will get you started:

LoL. When you purchase a ford, chevy , buick, or other blah made car, you gotta to lower expectations. It is not like you're buying a Japanese or German made car.

I've read about Raptors being susceptible to rust from the factory. If I buy a new I'll get it under undercoated professionally 1st thing. Should be fine after that.
This can actually make it worse, any small amounts of ruse will work inside vs sitting on the outer part.

cosmoline spray would be the best thing overall. It doesn’t last forever but it will last a while. And it won’t come off without specialty cleaners. Similar to Fluid Film but dries 100%. Two seasons of cosmo on my Jeep and no rust, we get salt and brine and sand on our roads here.

In my previous profession I worked for General Motors (I know, I know) and was told by a couple of high level engineers the car manufacturers focus on where the majority of cars are sold. I live at a high altitude which causes numerous runability issues related to this and the engineers stated "well less than 1% of our cars are sold at altitude" so it was not their focus. My point being even though their corporate headquarters are in the 'rust belt', don't expect them to focus on that issue. Additionally as previously stated it is their business plan to sell more units what do they care for what reason.

I can assure you, being that I prevent rust on vehicle bodies and frames anything not coated is going to rust PERIOD. Any rust that is on a new vehicle underbody is what we call stable rust and in fact is protecting the “iron” below the surface. Also for any car manufacturer to protect this would cost thousands of dollars.

In the 90’s my HK USP40 came wrapped in a plastic bag (inside the HK box) with a thin coat of this all over the metal parts, and an instruction card on how to clean before use. (I have a vague recollection the instructions said it was a cosmoline gel to keep the gun rust free prior to use.)

Pain to clean off. Only gun I ever bought that came that way. Worked though, metal parts perfect.
