I ordered my truck and took delivery the day after it arrived, there were maybe two or three small rust spots underneath and I immediately went through this process to coat the underside and fix what little rust spots there was with paint. Over a year later, it still looks exactly as it does in these pictures, no rust and very shiny, just some water spots. Thought I’d share the process and products. I’m extremely impressed with this product.

Back in 2002, I bought a new F350. Next day, I look underneath and it was worse than the truck in the article. Dealer replaced the truck that day, after a little heated discussion.

You're going to get rust under any vehicles. It is mostly raw metal underneath on most vehicles car or trucks. If all the manufactures has to paint or coat the underside of all vehicles on the assembly line can you imagine what the added cost would be? Plus, how else you going to justify buying new vehicle every 10 years !!!!!

A lot of these part suppliers leave these parts sitting outside, starting the rusting process (My take). I have a both a Raptor and a 2011 F250. I noticed specific parts on the new F250 showed serious signs of rust. Not the beginning stages, but that it had been subjected to sitting outside, maybe on a pallet or bin for quite sometime. Ford just takes these parts as is and slaps them on. You could tell the different time frames by the stages of rust on some parts and the severity of rust on others. It boils down to the beancounters. They dont want to spend the money on coating these parts they feel will outlive the vehicle or wear out before the rust impacts them. They don't care that the rust does impact the part over time, making it difficult to remove it, service it, re-build it, etc. If you've worked on vehicles long enough, you know rust is not your friend when it comes to repairs.

I've read about Raptors being susceptible to rust from the factory. If I buy a new I'll get it under undercoated professionally 1st thing. Should be fine after that.
