If you use the spare be aware that it may look completely different than the rest. At 5000 miles when I had my first tire rotation I asked for all 5 to be rotated. But when I looked at it I said take the original spare off and put back under truck. (Never to be seen again until an emergency). It looked so weathered and the heat from exhaust, salted winter roads or whatever really changed the color. I thought it was just dirty at first but after wiping it down it was never gonna look like the rest.

FWIW….You will be more than safe with a plugged tire. I have used them dozens of times for many different applications and have never had the slightest issue. Just ensure that you use plenty of adhesive on the plug before using it….let the truck sit for 10-15 minutes for it to “set” and then trim the excess plug material with a razor blade. The plug will likely outlast the tire…..

I’ve had great luck with the Safety Seal plug kits. Best in class and made in the USA.

I also recommend the Discount Tire road hazard insurance. My last plugged tire still slowly leaked. Discount Tire took a look and replaced the tire at no charge.
