I use the FL 820s, threads and gasket are the same dimensions. I know some people do this, some don't.
What is the consensus here?

Looks like the FL820 has a 16 PSI bypass vs the FL500S which has an 8 lb bypass. The FL500S would bypass more on cold starts. Could the FL820 not increase in engine wear? Maybe @FordTechOne has a better answer about using that filter.

I would think 8 psi valve would be better. Although the 820 appears to be a little bigger. Ford racing also makes a filter based off the 820. So idk, must be a reason for dropping the valve pressure.

Ponder this, I am no expert just trying to keep things simple. If the 820 holds twice as much oil as the 500, ( not claiming this as fact), if one cycles at 8psi and the other at 16, would they not be filtering the same amount of oil?
But the 820 would have a larger filtering surface area? @FordTechOne ?
