I found 3 places where the paint has a defect, one in the tailgate, looks like a ding but it's not, then 2 small places on the side front passenger door (not very noticeable at all).

THe dealer said they can fix it but it will take repainting those areas. I'm very hesitant to letting them do that.

This wasn't caught by me or anyone cause I literally bought it off the Shipping Truck dirty with stickers on it and all, and drove off.

I'm not really concerned except the rear tailgate cause it's the most noticeable, but what would you guys do? Let it go or repaint?

I'd leave it alone unless it's huge or metal is showing... No repaint will ever be "as good" as the factory....

I half agree with that statement. If they arent noticeable or in a location where they may see brush scratches, I'd leave them alone and try to finagle something out of the dealer to leave it. After all, Im guessing you paid $70K+ for the truck, why let them off the hook.

But if you do to get it repainted, it largely depends on the color as to how many adjacent panels they will have to paint. For instance, if they are on a front fender and your paint is a metallic (not a solid color), they will have to blend color into the hood and door to match the color right, Then reclearcoat all of those panels. A solid color can usually be repaired on the one affected panel alone.

As for paint quality from the factory, its mid quality at best. And there are much better paints on the aftermarket from PPG, Axalta, Diamont, Sikkens, etc. than factory paint. The factories dont splurge on paint quality with as many vehicles as they paint every day.

Photos of the issues would help. Repainting will never be the same unless YOU get to take it to the best body shop in your area and Ford picks up the tab. I'm fairly certain that isn't going to happen and your dealer will use their own bodyshop or a local shop they work with.

Come on Ford get your QC measures a bit tighter especailly for your specialty vehicles that comand a premium.

Photos would really help....a respray of the tailgate is very easy to match as there is no blending whatsoever....you never see it directly head on vs another panel....that's the only one I would consider trying to rectify.....

A good body shop might be a better option in my opinion granted you might have to pay a little...

Send a picture. Some fish eyes can be sanded out. I wouldn't let the dealer fix it.

It's really hard to get a pic with the black. Nearly impossible. Sorry best I can do. It's where the power line really jumps up in the reflection. Pointless.
