don't believe this guy as he has a lift.

lol!

My last 4 trucks have been 3.5 Ecoboosts. Even on the Gen1 Ecoboost the oil filter and drain plug were in the same place as the Gen2. After 9 years of practice Ecoboost oil changes are easy.

Haven’t changed the oil in 30 years so why start now???

I’ve been getting $39 synthetic blend oil changes/ tire rotations from Ford dealer every 5k miles for 3 years. Never had any leak or issue. And I’ve also never had any oil on me or my garage floor! And I even have the dreaded plastic oil pan!

It’s kind of strange but I’ve never been a car guy... got me from point a to b and couldn’t care less about maintaining the car myself. Brought them to the dealer and always came back with a nick here, stain there, whatever. Bought thIs truck with that in mind, but then put enough into it and don’t want anyone other than I to mess it up. Either that or I spent 70k+ on a truck and trying to save a few nickels.

Just did an oil change yesterday on my Gen1.
I also have a Gen2 so they're fairly similar for oil changes.
Having done them both ways I prefer to drop the skid plate. It only adds maybe ten minutes to the process and I get to visually inspect more of the undercarriage. Using a small impact makes quick work of it.
Between the two trucks have done maybe 15 oil changes. No more than an hour at the longest including a couple of beers.

lol - my first experience? Never happened, crawled around under there, made a bunch of jokes about stupid Ford engineers (been dealing w/ mostly GM & Honda vehicles my life) & decided right then & there that A) I don't give a damn enough about this truck to treat it special & give it oil changes myself ESPECIALLY since its a huge mess making time consuming PITA & B) while I have a reputable mechanic I use for my vehicles locally, I am not sure I'll always go there in the future & not sure a random tech would take the effort to minimize the mess made when changing the oil in the Raptor let alone not lose any of the associated bolts/screws (they already attempted to remove skid plate that said "do not remove" on my first free oil change @ dealer - never again)

SOOOOO - to make it easier on the techs @ the shop I use + to minimize mess + to make it easy on ME should I ever decide to change it myself - I had the swiveling Fumoto valve installed w/ like 10" of hose on the end so you can just flip the valve open w/ a long flat head screwdriver & position the hose to drain into whatever pan you have. Then I made the decision to only use K&N oil filters - not b/c I think they're super high quality over anything else off the shelf or a FOMOCO filter - 1000% ONLY because they're the only geniuses who put a hexhead on the end of their filters so you don't need a particular oil filter removal toil and/or destroy the crap outta your hands/knuckles/arms/elbows etc. getting the POS filter out from pan. WHAT A STUPID DESIGN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But hey, its Ford, they make 3.0 V6 engines that are somehow architecturally bigger than an LS2 lol! I stopped trying to figure it out - there are quirks to every manufacturer

Funny you say that. I have had a 4 post lift for many years. But imagine my surprise that the Raptor is too WIDE to fit on it. UGG. My nephews SuperDuty 250 fits on it but the Raptor fenders are just a little to wide.

Don't forget you'll need a 10mm socket to remove the oil drain access panel and a T-40 to remove the oil filter access panel. I also use a 1/4 impact Milwaukee gun to speed up removal and re-installing bolts once hand started. I have the 3/8" socket T-40.

Also a 3/8" hose is what works on the Fumoto F107N valve, I just used a zip tie to leave it attached and like another member posted just put the hose in the drain pan and open the valve.

I also installed the little plastic lock which isn't really necessary but it was cheap enough and is a little added security that the valve will stay closed. As long as you properly push the lever all the way back it seats and like I stated you really don't need the plastic lock.

When I put 17x9 0mm offset wheels on my 2017 I took it to the local dealer for an alignment. It was too wide to fit on their alignment machine.
