If you don't mind another step when changing oil, you'll find that a gas container works great for storing/transporting oil to a collection center.
I have been using this method for years.

I use a 2 gal. 8 oz. gas container. This will hold all the used oil from a Raptor oil change.

1.) Drain the oil from your Raptor into an oil pan.
2.) Transfer used oil from oil pan to a gas container (use a funnel).

NOTE: DO NOT use the nozzle from the gas container to drain oil out. REMOVE the nozzle and THEN pour used oil into the reclamation barrel (much cleaner this way).

I have that same cheap drain pan and I've never had oil spill over. You have to take that little plug completely out an pop the vent open. I've drained my 7.3 Powerstroke, Raptor, FJ, 6.7 Powerstroke, and never had any issues. I change my oil with the engine at operating temp too.

When draining the oil, what can I expect? Will it shoot out and I have to scramble to catch the oil in the drain pan?

Not if you place the pan in the right spot. It will flow fast at first, them ease back so you may have to reposition the pan as the flow starts to slow down. Have some blue towels handy because there will always be spots from splashing.

I have always used a five gallon bucket like the one from Lowe's below for used oil collection. Mainly because I usually change the oil in more than one of our vehicles at a time and five gallons is more than enough room for all the used oil. then I take it to a buddy's shop and dump it with him because he uses used oil to burn in his shop heater during the winter.

Just changed mine this past weekend and used a Lumax drain pan which has a nice screw on top and release screw. Didn't leak on me when I moved it to drain the oil into a couple gallon containers to drop off at HHW.

Here's my solution to the 7 quart Raptor problem. It has an 11 quart capacity, an island for draining the filter, a pour spout at one corner, and is made of sufficiently heavy plastic so that it doesn't flex when you pick it up to pour. (12 inch ruler added for scale)
