Finally took delivery / 1st impressions

Congrats on your new ride! I may be able to offer some insight which may or may not apply to the Raptor about the tranny. I drive a '14 Ford Police Interceptor daily. The computer in those holds lower gears longer when you are driving "aggressively" to give more power or something like that. (I am not a gear head) Also when you brake hard the engine downshifts to use engine braking to assist. It holds this "aggressive mode" for about 10-30secs and then if you are driving "normally" it reverts back to normal. When they first came out we were often freaked out thinking the tranny was broken and brought several back to the dealer!! Until we were edumacated. These cruisers also use ecoboost engines. Hopefully this was useful. If you ever drove a crown vic these 2 are night and day for the better... but this is a truck forum dammit!!

Sport mode doesn’t ever drop below a certain rpm, so if you’re going say 45-50, 8th is about the highest I get in sport and it will not upshift for love or money. Sport also does not skip gears like normal mode. I was on a low speed limit road tonight and confirmed the sport mode behavior. I was kind of hoping the truck would upshift after at least some time, but it wouldn’t because we were steady cruising at 60 or just under. OTOH, throttle response for tip in and part throttle was ... brisk.

Really? My paddles only range limit in sport mode on mine... any one else?

I tried mine the other day in drive and it eliminates gears starting with 10 and going down. Just like the +/- button has done for several years.

I had mine on the highway today in Sport Mode at 90+ mph and it absolutely shifted up into 9th then 10th gear. I also like how Sport Mode shuts off the Start/Stop function.
