You should limit your calling names and stick to your opinions. Especially on these trucks with all the exclusive electronics. Two trips to the dealer and your warranty is paid for. Possibly one. It's called peace of mind at a price.

I'm pretty sure the thread title is asking for opinions, and that's what I gave. If what I said offends you that's not my problem.

Unless your going to mod heavily and run it off road hard.

Just picking this out because isn't that the point of this truck? Again, just my OPINION but buying this as a street queen seems like a waste. But people can do whatever they want with their money.

The statistics prove that more people lose money on extended warranties than they get in covered repairs. We're talking new vehicle purchases
here..as you also noted:

If you have a new vehicle that has numerous issues within the first year or two, your,"percentage" skew would be in your favor of purchasing the warranty.

What you're saying actually supports my argument of not purchasing it. So we agree! Yayy.. Those first 1-2 years of ownership are covered under the standard warranty. Most likely any big issues or defects with the truck (or any electronics for that matter) are going to show up in the initial ownership period where you can get it taken care of.

There will always be that guy that comes out ahead by purchasing it, the odds just aren't in your favor. Like I said earlier, if people want it for peace of mind then go for it - it's their money. My peace of mind comes in the form of RPG gear :)

If I have any problems with my truck I will have no problems letting others know. The community should have as much info possible on our trucks, good or bad. I won't feel bad about not having purchased something I would intentionally void :party28:

what is "GAP" insurance?

How gap insurance works
Let's say you buy a new car for $20,000. You put $500 down and your payments are $350 per month. Six months after buying your car, it is involved in an accident and totalled.

Your collision insurance company determines that your six-month-old car is now worth only $16,500. They will pay you that amount (less your collision deductible if the accident is your fault). You've made six monthly payments plus your down payment, for a total of $2,600; you still owe $17,400 on the car. In a case like this, gap insurance would pay the $1,100 difference between what collision insurance covers ($16,500) and what you owe on the car ($17,400). If you did not have gap insurance, the extra $1,100 would come out of your pocket. (Note however, that if your insurance company determines that your deductible applies, that money will come out of your pocket -- gap insurance won't cover it.)

Gap insurance for buyers
For buyers, gap insurance only makes sense if you expect to be "upside down" on the car (you owe more than it is worth). If you made a low down payment, if you bought a car that depreciates rapidly, if you have a high interest rate or if you rolled over other costs, such as money owed on a trade-in, into your new-car payments, gap insurance makes sense. Most buyers, particularly those who made a healthy down payment, will always be right-side-up on the car, and therefore don't need gap insurance.

What site was that I just got a quote for $2345 for the 7 yr 100k

Seems really high for you guys, I think Harley can sell them way cheaper than that.

Personally I think I will hold off on the warranty and make a decisions closer to my 3yr/36k

The quote for the Prem Care Plan best was 72 (6yr) months, 75K $200 Deductible = $1510
Quote for Maint. Plan 7.5K interval was 72(6yr) months, 75K 0deductible = $1250

I have 8K on the truck and is less than 1 year old.

I think these sound really high. I understand if I wait the prices will go up, but I am still only getting an extra 3 years for $1510.

Does anyone have any specific recommendations toward plans and specific sellers of these plans?

It was told to me this way, the extended warranty would pay for it self easily if you had issues with your navigation system, and the maintenece plan would be worth it if your shocks failed on you. Aside from that IMO the standard warranty covers anything else for a good period of time.
