Oh look my favorite topic!

Short answer: Don't buy it - statistically a waste of money, if you mod it makes even less sense

Less short: Too many people base opinions on anecdotal evidence and "sense of security" BS a salesman pitches for "peace of mind" .. Spend the money on mods or other toys instead.

He was close and unless you're an English teacher you'll get use to it. As far as the warranty, it really depends on your dealer. As they are the ones handling claims. We got the extended and we're heavily moded. But we've already been through two stearing racks, so.....

Extended warranty??

Hey guys,

I ordered a 2014 Black SCREW SE last month. While I'm waiting for the truck, I'm debating the merits of the extended warranty. Typically I'm very anti extended warranty. My thinking is that they wouldn't offer them if they weren't making money on them (meaning most warranties they sell go unused). But also that if I think I need a warranty, I'm assuming I'll have problems.

It seems that this truck isn't immune to issues though. My truck won't see a lot of heavy off road use. Mainly to get my motorcycle to different tracks to ride. So it won't be abused. It will be driven daily though.

Would you get the warranty? And why or why not?

Thanks,
Shane

Only you can decide this. I wouldn't but I'm also about to void most of my warranty.

Of course they make money on them. Same as auto insurance companies, life insurance companies, health insurance companies (maybe not anymore with OCare!) and property insurance companies. It's all about risk, your appetite for personal exposure, and how much you value peace of mind. Personally, I have come out ahead on the few extended warranties I've purchased. Personally, I think $1,200 (when I purchased mine) is worth it for 72 month 100k mile protection.

Ditto on it being worth it. the cost on some of the issues on these trucks is pretty high. I paid about $1220 for mine to cover it until its paid off. after that it will be modded to the gills.
