520/500 is a far cry from that. And in the video, maybe it's just deceptively fast?:

Remember they are trying to keep your warranty with the base kit. You can upgrade the pulley and even S/C to a larger one if you want more power.

As for the video, if you read the thread you would have seen where that is a 5.4L S/C from over a year ago...

Maybe I dont get it... But I thought they were aiming for close to 700whp? 520/500 is a far cry from that. And in the video, maybe it's just deceptively fast? But it doesnt look like it's blazing down the road with 500whp. :iam:

Also remember that 520whp is about 650hp at the crank. Expect about an 18%-20% drivetrain loss. 650hp is likely pushing the limits on the stock internals of the motor. Powder forged rods no not do well with big hp numbers.

This video...
Ford Raptor supecharged whipple 2.9 - YouTube

The one that says it's a 6.2 in the description and uploaded Oct 1st 2011? It may be a 5.4 that was uploaded incorrectly, but just going by what is there... The stuff doesnt match up.

Are they doing all this through Ford Racing? Maybe you have a mod friendly dealership, but I'm pretty sure my dealership would have an issue with an aftermarket supercharger, so the warranty claim is likely a YMMV topic. I'm not against it, but I've played the mod game before and dealt with dealerships :S One tried to tell me that my wheel bearing failed because I put a different turbo on my car. Too bad it was a TSB issue that they didnt have an option to fix.

Just calculated the 20% drivetrain loss, didnt realize how big that number is. No fun indeed. I thought it was closer to the 90 mark rather than 130. Acceptable loss, but still hurts for sure.

So serious question, the 6.2 does have forged internals? You say powder forged, how is that different from the forged internals from the Cobra? I know they're pushing out stupid power from those, if the 6.2 has similar forged internals, then I'm anticipating huge numbers from people cranking the boost to crazy numbers, and surprisingly good longetivity.

That is indeed an old video someone re-uploaded.

Powdered rods couldn't be further from what went into the factory supercharged stang. Only time will tell what the upper limits of boost will be on stock internals. Whos first!??? From what people have been saying is that it will be available through FRP and will be available for install at your dealer. When I go SC I will definitely be doing it through my dealer's commercial wing, which also do all the FRP stuff. Totally different experience than the regular service dept.

The video above was a JDM video posted back in 2010. Some random person just downloaded the video and reuploaded with a different title just to get some views out of it. Pretty Lame.

The vid is for sure a 5.4L that JDM did. The Cobra motors come with Manley H-Beam forged rods. Good quality parts good to at least 800hp. The 6.2L motors get the same crap rods that came in the Lightnings. They start life as a powdered metal combine with heat, epoxy, and pressure they make a rod. They are fine in stock applications but do not hold up well to boost. In the Lightning world the safe max WHP was about 450. Beyond that and you were flirting with disaster. The 6.2L has an advantage over the 5.4L that the rod length is shorter which improves the strength. I have little doubt that the 6.2 will be fine with low/modest boost. Until we have more boosted 6.2's on the street it will be tough to tell the threshold for the stock internals. My guess is 600whp will be pushing the limits. Just a guess.
