My experience with powdered rods is not good. My first Lightning I ventilated the block after a rod let go. Conservative tune, wideband O2 monitoring, EGT's well in the safe zone. I was running 6lbs of boost over stock. Got on it, down shifted, and a nice fireball. One rod let go and 4 others bent bad. It was a very common occurance with Lightnings. The went to the expense of a forged steel crank but cheaped out on the rods. Hopefully they have improved things since then.

For my piece of mind when I go for the S/C I will likely have a new motor built. Of course then the weak link is moved down the drivetrain to the trans, then the rearend, transfer case, frontend. It never stops once it starts. lol

Ah yes... The mod game, it never ends sadly. That's why you should just start with a car that is going to make you happy just the way it sits. A friend once said "stay stock, stay happy". It holds true, kind of... Unfortunately, I'll always want to mod my cars, it's an addiction. Do they have support groups for that? Modders Anonymous?
