my rings have always been in that part replacement does go from a (-a) to a (-b) so who knows if its that sensor. or maybe drastic air temperature change. we'll see, i'll update as it goes

obd code was p051c, fixed for now

SPD Performance has fixed the misfire code issue on 2 trucks. We replaced the factory spark plugs with Motorcraft SP542 (cold plugs) which we spaced at .028.

Installing time is 30-45 minutes. SP542 plugs MUST be respaced to .028 - .030, but make sure they are all the same spacing. They will come in with a larger spacing.

6 spark plugs are required.

This misfire code seems to happen more frequently after installing aftermarket intake systems but has also plagued 100% stock trucks as well.

Which plugs were in it..that you replaced? The owners manual says to use SP534's they come gapped @ .030 and a while back dealers were recommending SP550's which come gapped @ .028

They were SP534 and yes, the manual shows 0.030-0.033. We did not check the actual gap on the plugs that we removed.

The SP542 came in gapped at .035 -.037, which are way off from their gap specs of 0.28 - 0.031.

Wonder why not sp534 gapped to .028??
In all previous ecoboosts, sp534 was the only recommended plug and gap was .030 for stock, and .028 for modified. These have definitely been problems on ecoboosts if the gap is not .030 or less. I guess that’s why people have to change them so often.

need hel with a misfire Gen 2 Raptor

Hi everyone,
I need a little help trying to figure out an issue i'm having with my 2017 Raptor. Its misfiring in cylinder 1 & 3.
the codes I'm getting are:
P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire Detected
P0201 Injector Circuit/open Cylinder 1
P0203 Injector Circuit/open Cylinder 3

Im guessing the vehicle is detecting a misfire so it's shutting open the injector pulse.
the vehicles only done 200 miles.
I live in Australia so I cant go to my Ford dealership and ask them to look on it so I'm on my own over here.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Try to get your hand on 6 Motorcraft SP542 spark plugs and gap them to .028" or 0.7112mm. Although, you may have a more serious issue but its worth a try.
