Had mine inspected for the insulation panels at the end of January. It failed the inspection and they secured the panel with the rivet kit. Dealership ordered the driveshaft as it was already damaged from the unsecured insulation panel. Took about six weeks for the drive shaft to come in but I was able to keep my truck while they waited for the part. New drive shaft was installed last week.

Did my picture look worse than yours? Really would’ve loved to have that as an option. Might call them up and see if I can do that.

I feel for you, especially with a new vehicle, it's almost comical that you bought a big bad Raptor and they stick you in a little Escape, just doesn't seem right.

I’m glad you feel the same way, because everyone else seems to think I’m crazy for complaining about a rental car haha

I'm in the same boat although I drove it home with their ok and I agreeing to not drive it. It's been almost 3 weeks and part "should" arrive end of this month. I don't drive mine often (470 miles in 5 months) so not THAT big of a deal to me. But yea. Definitely sucks.

You might want to consider mentioning to the Ford dealer that you had gotten the Raptor/Truck to help you haul/carry things in the bed and back seats since they fold up and you need a vehicle with the same or larger capacity for work. The escape won't cut it, especially for larger tall items. Just a thought, since it is a truck, they should keep you in a truck. Especially if you mention that you will possibly be carrying liquids in the back and you really don't want them to spill in the inside of the new escape, but you need to be careful on that one in case they decide to pull the rental since you might screw it up.

Brutal, and i’m assuming there is nothing I can do to expedite this process? Sourcing it from another dealer/etc and just maybe invoicing them back? Ha

Trying to get creative since they put me in a Ford Escape and i’m not a fan, I feel naked..and 2 months is a ridiculous amount of time to get a pretty critical part.
If you have not contacted ford corporate do so immediately. They will likely help you out somewhere especially with the repair. The worst parts to replace are electrical ones so given this is mechanical at least you have that to your advantage.

For me I’ve had to bring mine in 3 times for various repairs (turbo blown, exhaust replacement, etc.) and have had the truck in a dealers hands for 3 weeks total since pickup (02/12). I complained as much as humanly possible to ford and they linked me up with extended warranty, expedited parts allocation, and some free cash. You paid for an expensive truck and ford knows that, they also know you can claim lemon on the vehicle and the slightest mention of that they will start working for you (at least they did for me, the agent sounded scared haha)

TLDR, contact ford corporate asap and complain, they will help you out but only if you contact them and not the other way around.

Best of luck OP, the repair process sucks but I hope yours resolved quickly!

Correct my mistake, the dealer did a poor job of explaining it to me. After further research that is what it is. So net result is my driveshaft has to be replace because of the loose insulation.
take to welding shop have it tig welded machine shop to balance if needed should be a day fix just saying

Anyone gone in for a driveshaft recall and had it fail “the test”? We’ll long story short mine did after the dealer said they have only had 1 fail out of 10 (guess mine was #2).

They’re telling me they have to keep my truck for 2 months while it just sits in the lot waiting for the new driveshaft to come in..

Not happy about it at all, is this what other people are seeing for estimated repair times? Anyone know anything else I can do to help expedite the process?

Really sucks having to pay for a vehicle to sit in a lot during hail season lol

Thanks in advance

EDIT: Same recent recall, net result is having driveshaft replaced if insulators grooved driveshaft
Get shaft tig welded

Only other option….not a good one at all….but a possibility….is getting an aftermarket driveshaft??
There’s been a couple wrecked Gen 3’s thus far plus the one that was wrecked during the loading process. Just to reiterate…not a good option but an option nonetheless.
