I stopped by my local dealership to ask about the recall and schedule an appointment. When he looked up the info about the lead frame, he said that my 2012 is outside of the 10yr allowance, meaning that I would have to have a 2014 or newer. I told him that made no sense as a bunch here have gotten it done. They told me it would be close to $2k to get it done. I said no way. I made an appointment for fluid changes in a couple of weeks and he said he will look further into it. Is this true? I cant have my '12 serviced for this recall?

Oh,she gets in mine all the time...ive even let her drive it...once a year..owned 6 years, she has drove it 6 times...Been begging me for 8 years to drive my Corvette, but thats never gonna happen.
And THANKSshe is fine, shook up but fine..mostly mangled the back, and drivers side rear.
Yeah, figured price was legit, just have other things id rather do on it for over $1000 if i dont need...My baby runs as good as day i bought..
Yep...they sell Tomahawk now,and yes, your correct as always.Mine is a Shelby branded Whipple..
Didnt catch Jeff today, but will keep you posted...
Right now dealing with drama not Raptor related..
Off subject..
GF bought brand new 2024 4x4 (not Raptor..but starts with a T) Picked it up 2 weeks ago...800 miles on it,and Sat. she is rear ended, and side swiped by a logging truck..and the took off...she is OK,and State Patrol searching for him...
Good old Murphys Law...and will deal with my Raptor after she stops crying
Little update on the GFs hit and run...Good old highway cams, and video at the Casino exit..they got him on video cam 1 mile up tbe road...they watch him get out of truck and go around to check damage(he had tire damage),then get back in and back down the shoulder to get off exit..State Patrol arrested him Sat. and empounded his truck..guy had 15 other violations(10 for overweight) past few years! Oregon State Patrol have been great, officer gave us his direct number..and now the GF wont be out $1000 for the deductable..Sometimes justice is served...and with his record thinking its not going to be a happy ending for him.

Funny how car companies have to recall airbags that are exploding metal parts in people's faces on cars more than 10 yrs. old, but Ford won't recall transmissions that drop into 1st gear at 60 miles an hour!

What are the implications for a 2014 Roush Raptor? Will the dealership wipe the Roush tune?

They do for the "Whipple" so assume they would do for the Roush also....From what I gathered and my experience,if you have the RTD handheld tune device and tune file, they do the recall (just reprograming) and then put your original tune back on..In my case since I dont have the device or tune file they tod me to leave it alone because truck would run worst if not put back to the Supercharger tune.....When I talked direct to Shelby who did the tune in 2014 (but didnt supply device & tune at the time) they told me same thing...if Im not having trans issues now, leave it alone, which makes NO sense to me...isnt reason for a recall to stop a possible problem......And also said if I did want to do,the device and tune was $1000..!
Anyway, just my experience....I'd just give your local Ford dealer a call..and hope you done get the same runaround and BS I did...LOL!!
Good luck....let us know how it goes....this has been a long ongoing thread, and since I'm not using mine much now, still deciding if I should spend the $1000 :-(

//Hey guys.

I took in my Raptor to get this recall taken care of. As far as I'm aware, my Raptor does not have an aftermarket tune.

Got a call that after the fix was installed, that my Raptor completely shut down. Something about the PCM. Only other thing I could find was a user having their Fuse 27 blow out shortly after the recall, which was just bad timing.

Anyone had any similar experiences? Not looking forward to getting a bill if they end up charging me for this
.// - This is no longer an issue, but preserving this in case anyone goes through the same thing.

EDIT (10/31/2024 at 9 PM)

A friend is thinking either:

a) Technician is lying and is trying to buy time, I called an hour before closing after dropping it off in the morning and not getting any updates.
b) Technician is saying half the truth to buy time; forgot to charge battery and needs to do it all over again.

EDIT 2 (11/01/2024 at 9 AM)

Got back from the dealership. Allegedly they called in their Lead Technician to work on my Raptor and fix the issue. Drove it back home. No Check Engine light or any weird issues. I think it shifts better.

No issues. Might even go on a 700 mile road trip this weekend.

EDIT 3 (11/02/2024 at 9 PM)

Did a roughly ~500 mi road trip. Didn't experience any issues. Was on 6th gear for 95% of the trip, did some "engine braking" and downshifting. I'd feel comfortable to drive it on longer distances again.

Does anyone know that if the recall programming is done, then you flash it back to aftermarket tune is it a waste of time to have it done?

Meant to comment on this a little while after the OP originally posted this thread and forgot about it but figure I'll post my experience now.

I've never had trans issues w/ my 2014 ( but have read about others with earlier model year trucks that suffered from the molded lead frame problems ).

I called my local dealer about 24S37 after I received my notice via e-mail (got one in the mail as well) earlier this summer. They scheduled & sent their mobile repair tech out to my place a week or so later. The tech hooked up to the truck via his laptop/Rotunda device and connected a battery pack to keep my truck's battery "topped off" (par for the course when tinkering with the programming on any vehicle, as many know!). A few minutes (5 tops?) later, the reprogramming was all done - good to go !

Haven't experienced any issues thus far, was a painless process.

Here's a link to the Ford document btw:

For those who have had to pay out of pocket for replacing their molded lead frame, there is a very detailed process outlined that could help you get reimbursed for having to pay for the physical repair in the past ( read the fine print in the above document/letter; each situation is different - or hire out an attorney to spell it out for you LOL ).

Also saw this user ( @robrmg - his one and only post on this msg board so far, one hit wonder - really good stuff, post more brother ! LOL ) document his physical lead frame replacement (it's a very handy write-up and would be helpful for those who need to tackle this project, there's been other write-ups posted on the msg board too btw):

That's all I got for now, hopefully some of the above info will help someone down the road when they're searching for info about this recall or need info about how to replace their molded lead frame...
