Anyone gone in for a driveshaft recall and had it fail “the test”? We’ll long story short mine did after the dealer said they have only had 1 fail out of 10 (guess mine was #2).

They’re telling me they have to keep my truck for 2 months while it just sits in the lot waiting for the new driveshaft to come in..

Not happy about it at all, is this what other people are seeing for estimated repair times? Anyone know anything else I can do to help expedite the process?

Really sucks having to pay for a vehicle to sit in a lot during hail season lol

Thanks in advance

EDIT: Same recent recall, net result is having driveshaft replaced if insulators grooved driveshaft

Wasn’t aware of a driveshaft recall. There’s a recall where a heat shield can come loose and contact the driveshaft, but that’s solved with new rivets.

Welcome to the place, are you talking about the loose insulation that is falling down on the driveshaft and putting a groove in the driveshaft?

I would reach out to Ford Corporate regarding the whole making payments situation.

Not Ford, but Dodge did right by my future father-in-law when his engine seized up at roughly 15K miles. Dealer had his vehicle for nearly 4 months before they could source an engine (ecodiesel). Dodge paid for a loaner the entire time and waived his payments while the vehicle was in the shop.

I would hope Ford would give you a little bit of help.

Correct my mistake, the dealer did a poor job of explaining it to me. After further research that is what it is. So net result is my driveshaft has to be replace because of the loose insulation.

Yes, it is not safe to drive with a driveshaft like that and Ford corporate did say to not allow vehicles to be driven until repaired.

Brutal, and i’m assuming there is nothing I can do to expedite this process? Sourcing it from another dealer/etc and just maybe invoicing them back? Ha

Trying to get creative since they put me in a Ford Escape and i’m not a fan, I feel naked..and 2 months is a ridiculous amount of time to get a pretty critical part.

I feel for you, especially with a new vehicle, it's almost comical that you bought a big bad Raptor and they stick you in a little Escape, just doesn't seem right. I guess checking with other dealers is a possibility but IDK. Wouldn't be surprised if on back order (nationally).

Had mine inspected for the insulation panels at the end of January. It failed the inspection and they secured the panel with the rivet kit. Dealership ordered the driveshaft as it was already damaged from the unsecured insulation panel. Took about six weeks for the drive shaft to come in but I was able to keep my truck while they waited for the part. New drive shaft was installed last week.
